Port Aventura Theme Park Spain

Ranked #10,792 in Travel & Places, #272,048 overall | Donates to Squidoo Charity Fund

Port Aventura in Spain is the best theme park we have ever visited!

My family are roller coaster nuts! We love spending our time visiting theme parks and riding white knuckle rides. We are shortly about to return to our favourite park which is Port Aventura in Spain we have been to several parks all over the world but this has to be our number one (Six Flags in California came close!)

So what is so special about Port Aventura?

Why we like it!

Port Aventura is a massive park that is themed on 5 lands;

- Polynesia
- Meditterania
- The Far West
- China
- Mexico

You can escape and be on the Great wall of China one moment and doing the hula in Hawaii the next!

The theming is fantastic and you can really believe you are in these countries. Each land also has a focal point white knuckle ride as well as smaller attractions and a ride for the littlies so it makes a great place for the whole family.

When the children were smaller we were able to take it in turns on the large rides as there is always a smaller version nearby where the 'non-rider' could take the little one i.e Stampeda has the 'Tomahawk' in the same area. Tomahawk is a child size version of a wooden roller coaster!

For other members of the family who are not so keen on the Roller Coasters there are many shows such as; a stunt show, magic show, chinese theatre, can can, wild west shoot out and many many more!

So for us it is the perfect place for the whole family from toddler to grandparent

When Is The Best Time To Visit Port Aventura

Port Aventura is open from March through to October and just this year it opened for a Christmas spectacular.

During the peak summer months the park is open until midnight and this is the time we prefer to go as in the evening it is much quieter and cooler so you ar able to get on more rides without having to queue for too long.

However if you have younger children and can go in school time then september and october are better.

Try to avoid June as this is when all the Spanish school children visit and it can be verry chaotic and busy.

Visiting Port Aventura

How to get to Salou in Spain and the surrounding area

Salou is the main town connectd to Port Aventura. It is a typical Spanish resort about an hour south of Barcelona.

The nearest airport is Reus. There are many flights in and out of Reus and it is quite easy to arrange them for yourself as the transfers to the resort are very easy. We usually fly with Ryan Air as this allows us to chose how long we need to be at the Park.
