Learn How to Live Smart in Portland

In 2003, in response to concerns over poor home construction on narrow lots, the city of Portland held a design contest. The winning designs are "permit ready" and ready to begin construction on a narrow lot in Portland.

Winning Designs

Portland Home Builder, Palazzo Custom Homes, completed constructions on the Vargas home (pictured above) in 2007. The home makes the most of the narrow lot and stays true its neighborhood's style.

Other "permit ready" designs can be found on the Living Smart Web site.

All homes constructed under the Portland Living Smart Program are certified by Earth Advantage. Portland residents are mindful of living eco-friendly lifestyles and these homes are a green-friendly option for new home construction.
