Prasiolite or vermarine is the leek green Variety of Quartz

 Prasiolite is usually produced by heat-treating Amethyst to change the gem from pink to leek green.

Almost all Prasiolite has come from one small mine in Brazil. The rest come from Arizona in the United States.

 The work Prasiolite comes from the Greek words "Prason" and "Lithos," which mean 'leek' and 'stone' due to the gems Leek green color.

    I visited because I had no idea what Prasiolite was. I like purple, so amethyst is a favorite anyway. Great lens :)
