What We Can Learn from Tibetan Buddhist Prayer Wheels

Prayer Wheels are part of spiritual practice.

They are integral to a way of life.

They bridge spiritual and material.

They span temporal and eternal.

Through prayer we connect with that which has come before and that which shall follow.

We know waking and dreaming in the repetition of our prayers.

The prayers are contained within the wheel.

They are visible on the outside of the wheel.

When you spin the wheel, you send the prayer into the universe.

The ritual of using a prayer wheel is the practice of bringing what is within into the world.

Your use of a prayer wheel is connects your inner and outer lives.

What else do you do that connects your inner and outer lives?

Tibetan Prayer Wheel

This replica Tibetan Prayer Wheel includes prayers! It is made out of copper and brass and looks like it was made by a Buddhist Monk. We don't claim that it is, but it is very realistic. They are quite handsome and sure to inspire.

Some Prayer Wheels are mounted on stationary stands. This is true for the very large ones weighing hundreds of pounds or more. In the classical style of those found in shrines in some Tibetan communities, this Prayer Wheel carries prayers within and on the outside.

I've heard of Tibetan prayer beads, rosaries and medicine wheels but never Tibetan Prayer Wheels. Very interesting and thanks for sharing. I love meditation and contemplative praying and there are many ways to achieve, this is intriguing...
