New television series Pretty Little Liars based on popular books
Four former best friends are reunited after their best friend and queen bee of the group, Alison has gone missing. All four discover they are all receiving messages from someone using the name "A", who seems to know all their secrets.
The series is based on Shepard's popular series Pretty Little Liars. Author Sara Shepard has announced 4 new Pretty Little Liars books will be hitting the store shelves soon.

What is the plot of Pretty Little Liars?
The girls discover that each has been contacted by someone using the alias "A" (as in Alison), who is threatening to expose their secrets, including some that only Alison was aware of. Each girl has their own hidden secrets: Hanna purges to keep thin and also is a shoplifter, Spencer has fallen for her own sister's boyfriend, Emily is smitten with a new girl at their school, while Aria has begun to have an affair with her teacher.
The first book reveals that it is not the missing Alison who is taunting the girls but the identity of "A" is not revealed. A sub-plot emerges about the girls possibly having been involved with a classmate Jenna who is now blind, that they refer to as "the Jenna incident." Each subsequent book takes the girls on twists and turns.

Hanna Marin
Hanna is described as overweight when Alison DiLaurentis disappeared years before, but she has mysteriously dropped the weight by the time that Aria returns from Iceland.
Ashley Benson has been acting since the age of ten, having appeared in numerous commercials and done just about as many guest shots on television series. She was in The District back in 2002 before appearing on Zoey 101 (which starred Jamie Lynn Spears), but she learned her acting chops while appearing in 46 episodes of Days of Our Lives and a further 12 episodes of Eastwick.
She was also in several movies, such as 2007's Bring It On: In It to Win It and followed that up with Bart Got A Room and Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal the next year. After leaving "Days", she appeared on CSI: Miami, and Supernatural before landing the role on Eastwick last year.

Spencer Hastings
She is something of a veteran actress, having appeared in many television shows since her first movie at age 3 called Last Rites. TV appearances came next, with Quantum Leap, JAG and a couple of episodes of Navy NCIS.
Troian has been in several movies ever since she was three, including Billboard Dad which featured Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in 1998. Her next wasn't until 2006 when she made Unspoken about two lesbian high-schoolers. The following year she was in the comedy about joining a sorority Archer House and then last year's Intersect, which she played Victoria, who goes on a long awaited camping trip with her father, only to find that her father is bringing along his girlfriend (Yvonne Zima) who is just 20 years old.

Aria Montgomery
She has been on The O.C., How I Met Your Mother (as Robin's sister Katie), Wizards of Waverly Place and this past January 11th she appeared on CSI: Miami as a pop singer which bursts into flames on stage.
In addition, Hale was a member of the cast of the 2008 movie The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2.
Lucy Hale first made her television debut back in 2003 singing on American Juniors at the age of fourteen. She went on to several guest appearances on various series - with The Bionic Woman being her biggest break until being cast in Pretty Little Liars. Hale has a twitter if you wish to follow her ~ Lucyyhale (note the double "y" in the middle).
Her character Aria hates "Typical Rosewood Boys", and pretty much all the boys in her school for that matter. Aria shows more interest in Ezra, her English teacher.

Emily Fields
Not too much is known about her at this point, she is very pretty (as can be seen by her picture), but has few professional acting credits so far.
This appears to be Mitchell's first big break, so a definite congrats to her for landing the role. She does have a twitter account ~ shaymitch.
The Emily character in the books is a red-head (which Shay is not) and is very studious with a very conservative family. The problem is that Emily is falling for a female classmate which could cause turmoil between her and her parents.
This is the case in the books as the Fields family discovers their daughter's relationship with the classmate from "A". It will be interesting how this storyline plays out in the television program.
