The Chronicles of Narnia - Prince Caspian

For the Pevensie children, it has been a year since they returned from their amazing adventure in Narnia. But for the beings of Narnia, it has been centuries since the golden age of the reign of King Peter, King Edmund, Queen Susan, and Queen Lucy.

Now, a desperate Prince Caspian needs help, and he has been given Queen Susan's magical horn.

Reviews from the US opening of Prince Caspian

Rolling Stone review
Review of Prince Caspian by Rolling Stone reporter, Peter Travers.

Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian

27-year-old Ben Barnes plays the title role in Prince Caspian.

Prince Caspian was orphaned as a young child, and since he was too young to inherit the throne, his uncle Miraz was made regent to guide the throne of Narnia until Caspian came of age.

Unfortunately, Miraz chose to call himself "king", and began a campaign to kill or imprison any of those who claimed that Miraz was not the true king. He also sought to remove all traces of the legends of a talking lion called "Aslan" and other talking beasts.

Caspian grew up under his uncle's "protection". For years Caspian was safe while his uncle was childless and considered nephew Caspian fit to inherit the throne after his death. Until the day Miraz's queen gave birth to a son.

Anna Popplewell as Susan Pevensie

20-year-old Anna Popplewell is Susan Pevensie, whose magical horn, given to her by Father Christmas during their previous visit to Narnia, summons the four Pevensie children back to Narnia after a year away.

As the elder of the two queens of Narnia during the golden time, Susan grew up into an elegant and lovely young woman whose hand in marriage was covetted by the manipulative and scheming Prince Rabadash of Calormen. Queen Susan's flight from Tashbaan sparked a war on the border of Archenland, which sits between Narnia and Calormen.

Now, returning to Narnia after centuries, Susan is again a young girl.

William Moseley as Peter Pevensie

21-year-old William Moseley plays Peter Pevensie, the eldest Pevensie child, and High King of Narnia.

King Peter dealt with most of the administration of the Narnian throne, and became skilled in battle strategy. The alliance that Peter and Edmund brokered between Narnia and King Lune of Archenland was to stand them in good stead when Calormen threatened Narnia.

Skandar Keynes as Edmund Pevensie

17-year-old Skandar Keynes is Edmund Pevensie, the brother who betrayed his siblings in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by falling under the spell of the White Witch.

Edmund was rescued and the witch's enchantments broken, and, as King Edmund, he grew into a much wiser and more humble young man. Edmund prefered to negotiate and council rather than head for battle, and was called King Edmund the Just.

Georgie Henley as Lucy Pevensie

13-year-old Georgie Henley is Lucy Pevensie, the youngest of the Pevensie children, and the one who first finds her way into Narnia through the great wardrobe in Professor Kirke's mansion.

Queen Lucy always retained a little of her tomboy streak and rode to war alongside her brothers. She was an excellent archer, although her sister, Queen Susan, was considered even better with a bow and arrow.

Prince Caspian is of course the second movie in the Chronicles of Narnia series and although it's a very enjoyable film in its own right, it does help if you watch the first movie - The Lion The Witch and the Wardrobe - before watching Caspian.
