began in early 1934, and in June 1934, Walt Disney announced the production of his first feature to the New York Times. Snow White was the first Disney Princessthat premiered at the Carthay Circle Theatre on December 21, 1937 which was based on a German fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. It was the first full-length cel-animated feature in motion picture history, as well as the first animated feature film produced in America, the first produced in full color, the first to be produced by Walt Disney, and the first in the Walt Disney Animated Classics canon.

Princess Snow White, a beautiful fourteen year old girl with a wonderful, otherworldly singing voice, is seen working as a scullery maid in the kingdom. As she uses the well to scoop the bucket up with more water, she begins to sing; she is seen by a prince, who accidentally interrupts her singing, and she runs, embarrassed, into the castle. He sings back to her, and she acknowledges him by sending him a kiss, through a dove. She then retreats back into the castle.
Snow White's stepmother, the Queen, grows jealous of her stepdaughter because of her kindness and beauty. Fearing that one day her stepdaughter's beauty will surpass her own, she consults with her Magic Mirror, an animate object who confirms that the princess is indeed the fairest of them all.
The Queen instructs the huntsman to take Snow White in to the forest to be killed, but can't bring himself to do so and instead tells her to run away into the forest to save herself from the Queen's wrath. Frightened, Snow White runs in to the forest and finds consolation with some animal friends. Snow White discovers a cottage. Since the items and pieces of furniture are all so tiny, she assumes that the house is owned by seven children who possibly have no parents. It is revealed however that the cottage residents are seven dwarf miners, who are very surprised to see Snow White in their house when they return from the mines. Upon learning of her fate and identity, they agree to let her live in their house. During this time, she cooks, cleans, and cares for the dwarfs.
The Queen discovers that Snow White is still alive and disguises herself as a hag. She finds Snow White in the dwarfs' cottage while they are out at the mines and offers her a poisoned apple, telling it's a wishing apple and that one bite can make all her dreams come true. After Snow White makes a wish, she bites in to the apple and falls to the ground dropping it. The Queen cackles in triumph and leaves. The dwarfs arrive soon after and are unable to save Snow White, but they chase the Queen up a cliff. She attempts to roll a Boulder on them and laughes until Lightning crackles next to her and cracks the rock she is on and she falls to her death to be crushed by the Boulder herself.
Unwilling to bury Snow White, because of her beauty, the dwarfs build a glass coffin in which to lay her to rest. She is left in the woods, where the prince, who has been searching far and wide, finds her. He kisses her and she awakens. The two leave together to presumably be married.

Classic adaptation of the Grimm Brothers fairy tale about the fairest of them all. Beautiful animation, memorable characters, and wonderful songs mark this as the definitive "Snow White". Set the stage for other animated features after Walt Disney took an unprecedented gamble by attempting the first animated feature-length film, a project which took over two years to create and $1.5 million to make, and made believers out of those who laughed at the concept. Lifelike animation was based on real stars; Margery Belcher (later Champion) posed for Snow, Louis Hightower was the Prince, and Lucille LaVerne gave the Queen her nasty look.

Other Styles Of Snow White
Even before Disney made Snow White into one of the popular Disney Princesses, there were different versions of Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs including Betty Boop and The Three Stooges. There was a 1916 silent film titled Snow White was made by Famous Players-Lasky Corporation and produced by Adolph Zukor and Daniel Frohman. A 1973 episode of The Brady Bunch portrayed the Bradys (and Alice's boyfriend Sam) putting on a performance of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" in their backyard. In 1988, ABC released a sitcom based on the home life of Snow White and Prince Charming called The Charmings. A sequel to the Disney version was made by Filmation Studios in 1988 and released theatrically in 1993, called Happily Ever After. Snow White: A Tale of Terror is a 1997 horror film based on the Snow White story. It stars Sigourney Weaver and Sam Neill and in 2007 film Sydney White is a modern retelling of the classic fairy tale.
