Princess Tea Party

Plan a Princess Tea Party!

Once you have done all of the Princess and Barbie birthdays your child may want to graduate to a Classy tea party. Some countries have tea time everyday, but not in America. For whatever reason (Boston Tea Party) we threw off that tradition. But now your little girl wants to know what tea time is like.

This might be the first time many girls at the party will taste tea. I would go for a flavored non-caffinated tea. Have plenty of milk and sugar on hand so they can stir thier teas and have the full experience.

Pass the teapot game.

Hot Teapot (Hot Potato) you can use a cloth teapot toy, or any tea pot that won't break when dropped. Fill the teapot with candy. Start the music and the girls pass the teapot around. When the music stops the luck duck holding the teapot gets to take out a piece of candy.

Tea Party Recipes

8 hard-cooked eggs
1/2 cup mayonnaise
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
20 slices best-quality white bread

Peel eggs and place into a medium bowl. Slice eggs and then coarsely mash them with the back of a fork. Add mayonnaise, salt, pepper, and dill; stir until well blended.

Spread butter onto one side of each slice of bread. Spread the buttered side of 10 slices of bread with 2 tablespoons egg mixture. Top with remaining slices of bread, buttered side down.

Carefully cut the crusts from sandwich with a sharp knife. Cut in half diagonally, then cut in half again.

Yields 10 whole sandwiches or 20 halves or 40 fourths.

Strawberry tea
(To add more strawberry taste to your strawberry tea, do the following: make half a pot of strawberry tea with three bags, let it steep a bit and then add a few drops of strawberry extract and three or four drops of red coloring. Then add milk and sugar to taste)

Dress up time

You can have your little girls play dress up as a game or time killer. You might want to have them bring a dress up costume or you can provide them. You might also want to have some boa's and floppy hats and fake pearls or long necklaces. Then once every one has found the perfect dress they can play pass the tea pot and settle down for tea time.

Make a Tea party favor bag

Turn white paper bags (sold at most party stores) into giant tea bag party favors by filling each one with costume jewelry, penny candy and anything else you want. Fold the upper corners of each bag toward the center, then fold down the top and staple a piece of string to it. Staple a paper name tag to the end of the string.
