Firstly - Choose whether you will project the image onto your wall with an Overhead projector and trace it ,
or
Print it onto plain paper and enlarge the design with a photocopier.

You will need
* Down load the e-mural for FREE onto you computer from this page of my website.

* Artists' acrylic paint in the colours of your choice.

(or choose colours to tie in with the rest of her room)

* Masking tape to tape the design to the wall if you use a paper pattern.

* An overhead projector
(These can be hired from hire shops or borrowed from offices, schools or churches)

or
Access to a photocopier

* Overhead projector transparent film (optional)

* Pretty buttons, stars, beads, pom pons, sequins, mirrors, rhinestones, stick on jewels, shells or any jewel-like bits that can be found in craft shops.

* Strong contact adhesive
(To glue your 'treasures' to the wall).

* Soft colour pencil or coloured chalk

* A helpful little girl

1.
Print out the crown design from the Printable design page by either printing directly onto overhead projector film or print it onto plain paper and then trace it by hand onto overhead projector film.
(For an alternative method using a photocopier, see the Tips at the bottom of the page)

Project the image onto the wall to the size and position you require, I suggest making the width of the crown approximately 1.5' wide.

To make the crown appear to be floating on the wall, create the drop shadow by painting it in a pale grey.



Paint the crown and stars in your chosen colours. The simpler the better.

Allow the paint to dry thoroughly.

4.
Next comes the fun bit.
Collect buttons, woolly balls, metallic stars, sequins, stick on jewels and glittery bits and pieces that you can find in craft shops and craft suppliers.
Now with the help of your child, glue these treasures to the painted crown to give it that extra sparkle. A bit of glitter wouldn't go amiss either!

To enlarge the design onto paper rather than using an overhead projector, print out the design from the Printable design page
Enlarge the design on a photocopier and tape the sections together to get the crown as big as you need. Rub the back of the image with colored chalk and then tape the image to the wall
Draw over the lines with a ball point pen which will transfer the outline to the wall.

To create a realistic drop shadow color, put some of your background wall colour in a small container. Mix in a little drop of black acrylic paint until the colour is slightly darker than the background wall colour.
Don't make it too dark. Look at the real shadows in the room as a rough guide.

If you don't want to paint and glue treasures directly on the wall, trace the crown onto a piece of plain wallpaper or lining paper.
Cut out the crown around the edges.
Paste it to your wall then paint and glue on your treasures as per the instructions above.
it will look like it is painted on the wall, but you can remove it if you wish in later years my simply peeling it off the wall.

For a 3d Crown for the wall or as a door decoration, Paint the image onto MDF (Medium density fibre board) and have a handy person cutout the shape with a jigsaw. Stick it onto the head board or her bedroom door for a glittering 3D look.
