Big benefits from keeping a food journal
Your diet choices affect your health, your energy level and even your mood. But how much time do you spend keeping track of what you eat each day? If you're like most people you probably assume that the food manufacturers and restaurant owners have your best interests in mind and so you don't think much about it.
It might be time to think again!
One excellent way to keep track of what you eat is to use a printable food diary. To help you keep it more accurately you should take the time to figure out how many calories, fats, cholesterol, etc. are in the foods that you eat. If that sounds like too much to keep track of then think again. It turns out to be pretty easy.
The key is in making it simple to do, and fortunately there are a bunch of sites on the internet that can help. One site that you'll definitely want to use is http://www.calorieking.com/foods/. They let you type in things like "orange chicken panda express" and tell you that it has 545 calories with 29 grams of fat (6g saturated), 110mg of cholesterol and 880mg of sodium. It also has 46g of carbs. That's really useful, especially for the places that you like to eat every day!
So take control of your health and start keeping track of what you eat. You might be surprised at the results, but you'll be much better prepared to make decisions that will keep you healthy, strong and feeling good.
