Which site and why?

For those who have started, are going to start, or want to start their on T-Shirt store you either are or should be familiar with "Print-On-Demand" websites. Basically they are websites that allow you to create merchandise and print directly on it. There are four popular companies all of who have their lists of pros and cons. If you are interested in using them to host your own T-Shirt shop you will want to know all about the companies. Which has the highest quality? Which has the best price? Which is more customizable, etc. Like thousands of others, I have done the research, opened a shop, and would like to share my thoughts with you.

Clothing and Print Quality

To be honest, I have never had a problem with this. Every item that I've purchased has been high quality. Never faded. Never the wrong color. Never a problem.

I have however read that a few people have had issues with Zazzle. We've all had a bad day or two and Zazzle is no different, so the question is how did they handle the complaints? They exchanged the problematic clothes or correct ones. I guess that makes it a minor irritation not a deal breaker.

Clothing Styles

Of the four sites, I think that the winner of best style is goes to...Zazzle and Spreadshirt! That's right, its a tie. These two sites have clothes that are fashionable and not offered on the other two sights.

Clothing Prices

Considering all things, all things are equal. That may not make sense but this should...a t-shirt costs around $15 and a hoodie will cost around $35. This is universal among the print on demand websites. But keep in mind that the end price to the customer may be higher because of the shop owners mark up. To give you an idea about mark up, mine ranges from $0-$2. I want to sell lots of shirts not make $40 profit off one t-shirt (not to metion no one will pay $50 for a tee. )

Shop Comparisons

Printfection.com
Printfection is extremely customizable. They have the most customizable shop and shopping experience that I have been able to find. Your shop is highly customizable, you can write the html and custom css. But the customizing fun doesn't stop there. You can customize the checkout screens and the invoices. This gives the customer one very cohesive experience.

Zazzle.com
You can customize your shop at Zazzle. They have several templates and color schemes to choose from.

Spreadshirt.com
Spreadshirt is better than cafepress, but still is extremely limited.

Cafepress.com
CafePress has the worst (remember, we're talking about the free accounts). It is not customizable at all. Infact, you can only have one product type at a time. For example, if you want to sell a ringer tee with 2 different designs on it, you can't.

A Zazzle Store

Same price as printfection

Zazzle gives you a good price just as good as Printfection. But because of the promotional tools zazzle offers, I think they are a serious competitor for printfection.

A Cafepress Store

This is what you get for free.

This is our Store on cafepress.com. As you can see for the same price as Printfection.com you get a lot less.
