My Take on Professional Wrestling

I'm making this page about Professional Wrestling because I've been a fan for more years than I care to admit to. I know it's all fake, and that wrestlers are nothing more than glorified actors, but it sure is entertaining.

William Shatner is the "Guest Host." The show opens with Edge coming out. Edge returned at the "Royal Rumble", and he won it. He talks about how he got injured 6 months ago. The doctors were telling him he might never come back. He says he was watching the "Slammy" awards and saw Chris Jericho thanking him for getting hurt and making fun of him for it. He says he has missed two Wrestlemanias because of injuries, and he promised himself he wouldn't miss another one. He says he's going to Wrestlemania, but he hasn't decided yet, which champion he's going to go after. He says that he met The Undertaker a few years ago at Wrestlemania, and he lost. He says the smart thing for him to do would be to meet the champion who hasn't been to a Wrestlemania yet. Sheamus comes out and says that things have changed. He brags about how he's beaten John Cena for the title, and how he defeated Randy Orton the night before to keep his championship. Edge says that he's made a career out of beating Cena, and he's beaten Randy Orton too. Sheamus says that was a long time ago, and he's been out of action for 6 months. He tells Edge he should go, before he ends his career permanently. Edge doesn't move. Sheamus asks him if he's deaf. He says he's giving him a chance to walk out in one piece. Edge goes after Sheamus, but Sheamus knocks him down. Edge comes back and beats Sheamus up.
All the matches tonight are "Elimination Chamber" Qualifying Matches. The winners get to be in the next pay-per-view to try and win Sheamus' championship.
John Cena VS Cody Rhodes. WINNER: John Cena
They show a replay of "Survivor Series" in Montreal in 1997. That's when Bret Hart was screwed out of his championship.
Mr. McMahon is asked backstage, if he's seen Bret Hart yet. Vince says that he hasn't seen him, and he doubts anyone will see him tonight. Vince says he won't show up. Vince walks into his office. He has a conversation with someone we can't see yet. Vince asks if any Canadians have manners or respect. They show William Shatner. He says as a fellow Canadian, it will be a pleasure for him to watch Bret beat up Vince.
Jack Swagger VS Triple H. WINNER: Triple H.
Interesting side note, Triple H was eliminated from the "Royal Rumble" by his partner, Shawn Michaels.
Shawn Michaels VS Randy Orton. WINNER: Randy Orton.
Again they show scenes from Montreal in 1997.
Mark Henry VS Ted Dibiase. WINNER: Ted Dibiase.
William Shatner makes a Triple Threat Tag Team championship match for next week. It will be The Miz and The Big Show VS DX VS CM Punk and Luke Gallows.
Kofi Kingston VS The Big Show. WINNER: Kofi Kingston by DQ. The Big Show "accidentally" hit the referee instead of Kofi. Kofi probably should have been disqualified for hitting The Big Show in the eye, but the referee didn't see that.
Carl Edwards is the "Guest Host" next week.
Jerry "The King" Lawler introduces William Shatner. When he enters the ring, he falls on Jerry. He gets up and asks Jerry if he's okay. Jerry says he is. He apologizes to Jerry, then introduces Bret Hart. Bret comes out. He gets to "confront" Vince McMahon. He calls out Vince. He says that if Vince doesn't come out there, he's going to take a camera crew backstage, and find him. He calls Vince out again. He says he doesn't like to wait, it makes him madder. Vince comes out. He says he's never regretted anything he's said or done to Bret. Bret says, "Congratulations, that's the first honest thing you've ever said to me." He says that Vince is the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be at lying. Bret says that John Cena described Vince as "pathetic." He talks about how he had a stroke and was stuck in a wheelchair a few years back. He talks about how he worked for Vince for 14 years, thinking the whole time, that someday Vince would appreciate it. He never did. He says that Vince compared him to a stick of chewing gum that has lost it's flavor. He says this "stick of gum" has just enough flavor left in it to kick his butt. Vince says he still thinks Bret is pathetic. He says that he's not going to induct Bret's dad into the Hall Of Fame, because he doesn't deserve it. Bret attacks Vince, but Batista comes out and attacks Bret.

Weekly Smackdown Results

Smackdown Results - 02/05/10

I missed the first 1/2 hour of the show. When I turned it on, a match between R-Truth and Mike Knox was just getting started. There are "Elimination Chamber" Qualifying Matches on this show too. The winners get to meet The Undertaker for his championship at the next pay-per-view.

R-Truth VS Mike Knox. WINNER: R-Truth.
I missed the first match, but so far, the it's The Undertaker, John Morrison, and R-Truth.
They replay what happened between Bret Hart and Vince McMahon on Monday night. Next, they show what happened after Raw went off the air. John Cena came out to help Bret Hart, and Batista attacked him too.
They show CM Punk and his "Straight Edge Society" backstage. CM Punk has a match with Batista tonight, and he wants to make sure his "followers" are going to protect him. Both Luke Gallows and the woman he "recruited" a couple of weeks ago, say they will do whatever it takes.
Batista VS CM Punk. WINNER: CM Punk by countout. Batista wouldn't even wrestle, he just walked out of the ring.
Matt Hardy VS Chris Jericho. WINNER: Chris Jericho.
Mickie James and Beth Phoenix VS Michelle McCool and Layla. WINNER: Mickie James and Beth Phoenix. MIckie basically won the match by herself. Beth attacked her and Michelle McCool, then walked out of the ring. Layla tagged herself in, and Mickie beat her.
Rey Mysterio VS Dolph Ziggler. WINNER: Rey Mysterio.
Edge comes out for "The Cutting Edge." He talks about being injured and being out of action for more than 6 months. He talks again about which champion he should meet. There's a replay of what happened between him and Sheamus on Monday night. Chris Jericho comes out. Chris blames Edge for not getting his chance at the Championship. He reminds Edge that he is "The Face Of Smackdown." Edge tells him he's not anymore. He's says he's sick of Chris Jericho and everything he is about. CM Punk and his "Straight Edge Society" come out. CM Punk says they look like two junkies fighting over the last fix. He says it's about The Undertaker, the Elimination Chamber Match, and The Championship belt. He says that Edge must have seen him be the only one to ever make The Undertaker "tapout" while he was on "vacation." The Undertaker comes out and takes everyone down except Edge.

My son, Brian (age 35), is a long time Jimmy Valiant fan (The Boogie Woogie Man - now retired). Do you remember him? Boogies Wrestling Camp is only about an hour from him and he visits often. He has become great friends with Boogie and his wife Angel. (Brian is now the Goodwill Ambassador of Boogie's Wrestling Camp.) They are super nice folks. I met them once myself when I visited the camp. It's really interesting to watch them teach the wrestling moves. I'm not a wrestling fan myself, but did enjoy this. Wrestlers are truely talented to do what they do. I'm sending the link to all of your wrestling lenses to my son. Great job! Sorry for such a long blurb!
