The Professor Layton Game Series
The Professor Layton series are puzzle video games for the Nintendo DS. Sliding puzzles, logic puzzles, and other brain teasers are combined with engaging stories following the adventures of one Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke.
The series was originally intended to be a trilogy, but due to popular demand they've begun a second set of three. They're released first in Japan and appear in other countries later. So far only the first two games, The Curious Village and The Diabolical Box, have been released in the U.S. The third in that set, The Last Time Travel, has been released in Japan. The first of the second set, The Specter's Flute, is due out this Fall.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
In The Curious Village, Professor Layton and his apprentice are invited to St. Mystere to solve the mystery of the Golden Apple. The late Baron had willed that whoever could unravel the mystery would inherit his fortune, but so far no one has managed it. The game has 135 puzzles, which are solved to advance the story and, sometimes, obtain items.
