A list of Professor Layton games, with their plot summaries and links to demos and walkthroughs.
The Professor Layton games are a series of puzzle video games for the Nintendo DS. Sliding puzzles, logic puzzles, and other brain teasers are combined with engaging stories following the adventures of one Professor Layton and his apprentice, Luke as they solve intriguing mysteries.
The series was originally intended to be a trilogy, but due to popular demand they've begun a second set of three. They're released first in Japan and appear in other countries later. So far, The Curious Village, The Diabolical Box, The Unwound Future, and Professor Layton and the Last Specter have been released in the U.S.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village
In The Curious Village, Professor Layton and his apprentice are invited to St. Mystere to solve the mystery of the Golden Apple. The late Baron had willed that whoever could unravel the mystery would inherit his fortune, but so far no one has managed it. The game has 135 puzzles, which are solved to advance the story and, sometimes, obtain items.
You can play a demo of this multi-award winning game at the official website: Curious Village Demo.

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva
The Eternal Diva is set immediately after The Specter's Flute, but the story stands alone. In it, Layton is asked by a famous opera singer to look into the mystery of her friend, who disappeared a year prior only to reappear later as a seven-year-old claiming to have discovered the secret of eternal life.
This is the subtitled trailer from Eternal Diva's Japanese release:
Professor Layton and the Mask of Miracle
Professor Layton 5
The Mask of Miracle is said to grant the wishes of anyone wearing it. In search of the owner of the mask, Professor Layton and Luke travel to the town reported to be its location, only to find it's being used to turn people to stone. Once again they must conquer the puzzle challenges to discover the mask's secret and solve the mystery.
The Mask of Miracle was released as a launch title in Japan for the new Nintendo 3DS, and continues the prequel storyline begun in The Specter's Flute.

Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney
A Professor Layton Crossover Game
Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney is an adventure puzzle game blending the strengths fans love from the two series. Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright find themselves in an alternate universe in a strange medieval city. A young girl, accused of being a witch, poses the mystery they must solve, with Layton overcoming the puzzle challenges and Phoenix defending her at trial.
This game has been announced for release in Japan, but reportedly they're gauging interest before deciding on a wider release.

- I love this series... but the games make me feel like a dunce, lol. The puzzles are great, but I like them more for the adventure game aspects, and the stories. Professor Layton is the man!

- I am on to my third Professor Layton game - the Lost future- and I think they are really good fun and well made. Last summer I bought another mystery puzzle game and it was rubbish, these games have lots of content and are challenging without being too serious.

- I really love this Professor Layton lens, especially because you included info on the movie and the fourth game (which I hope will be released in the US soon). This series was the main reason I decided on buying a Nintendo DS, and I have zero regrets. Awesome job!
