When You've Tried Everything And Still Can't Seem To Lose
Why is it so many of us have failed to lose weight and keep it off? What is it about the word "diet' that makes us feel the way we do.
Are we asking the right questions? Are we asking ourselves the right questions? Have we given ourselves permission to lose weight?
How do we feel when we think of the word "diet. What do we see in our minds when the "diet" word is mentioned.
Have we seen in our own minds what we would look like when the weight or fat is gone? What are our feelings when we have seen ourselves after the weight is gone?
Take some time and ask yourself those questions. Then read on.

You've Tried Everything And Still No Results
Well what do you do? You gained back all the weight from your last diet and then some. You're thinking of giving up altogether. You've tried everything known to man. Fad diets, fat loss supplements, the best personal trainer money can buy. You've spent enough on "online programs" than you care to admit.
What's the use? Nothings gonna work! "I guess I'm doomed to stay this size the rest of my life!"
Have You Really Tried Everything?
No really! Have you actually tried everything possible? I didn't think so. Have you asked yourself why you want to lose weight?
Have you thought to yourself what you would look like if you lost weight? These are some pretty important questions to ask.
Sure we all want to drop a few pounds. And most of us could stand to lose more than a few. But what is the first thing you think of when you want to lose weight?
What's the first word you think of when you want to lose weight of fat? DIET!
And what are the thoughts and feelings associated with the word "diet"?
"Now I'm going to have to starve myself"
"Now I'll have to stop eating cookies and chips"
"Now I'm going to have to start working out"
Can you relate? Does that sound familiar? Ask yourself this. Are those the questions of someone who is excited or happy about losing weight?
Be honest with yourself. How do you expect to succeed with that kind of attitude? Yet that is what people think when they start a diet.
Emotional Triggers
People associate food with emotion. That's why they call it "comfort food". Certain emotions trigger certain feelings. Not everybody has the same triggers.
Some people eat when they're stressed. Others eat when they're nervous. Some eat when they're bored or tired. Different strokes.
And after time we get programmed to do certain things for certain situations. And when we try to change something that our body's not used to it reverts back to the "norm". Sometimes with interest.
It's not a question of will power. It is a question of your unconscious mind.
The unconscious mind does not understand negatives. Diets make you obsessed with eating. So you focus more on what you shouldn't be doing. Eating.
It's like reverse psychology. Let's say we're having a conversation and then suddenly I tell you "Don't think about "ice-cream sundaes". Don't think about ice-cream sundaes!
Did it work? I would venture a guess and say no.
Picture It!
The unconscious mind only knows experience. What feelings and images you have attached with certain items such as food.
When you think of dieting you picture skin and bone models. Or unfortunate starving people. Your unconscious mind associates dieting with discomfort and will not let it happen.
It will go into survival mode and slow down your metabolism. Then it will start storing the fat in the foods you eat. It will make you think you're hungry all the time. Just so you don't experience the "discomfort".
Which results in little or "no results".
New Programming
You follow patterns. You do certain things at certain times of the day. You have programmed yourself over the years with the routines you have designed.
You now have to "re-program" yourself. It's not about having the will power to deny yourself of the foods you are most comfortable with. You will only sabatoge yourself.
You have to approach it differently. People eat out of emotion. You associate certain foods with feeling good. That is how your unconscious mind sees that image.
Now you have to change that image. You have to substitute the image of those foods with better choices.
That is why I had you ask yourself those questions at the start of this article.
That is how you begin to change the self image of yourself.
If you can change the self image of how you look at weight loss. Your chance of taking and keeping off the weight you want to lose has a lot better chance of happening.
Story Time
When I was little. Every weekend if we behaved Dad would give us a snack at night. Usually chips and soda pop. And on Sunday night we would all gather around the TV eating popcorn and watching Hec Ramsey, McMillan&Wife, McCloud.( Easy! I know)
It turns out that even when I was out on my own I would do the same thing up to the present. I had programmed myself to binge on the weekends.
During the week I do well. I have no problems watching what I eat. But when it comes to the weekend. Well....you know.
I have taken it upon myself to take care of this with some help.
