What To Promote On Traffic Exchanges... And How To Do It

Welcome to part one in Dragon Surf manual traffic exchange training series. In this lens we are going to discuss what you should be promoting on the traffic exchanges... or to be more precise how you should present the offer you want to promote in order to maximize your results.

Once you are done reading and implementing these tips... stop by for your daily surf session at the web's best traffic exchange... Dragon Surf

Understand Your Target Market

...And Traffic Exchanges Will Deliver Highly Targeted Traffic

One of the common myths surrounding traffic exchanges are that they are a "waste of time", deliver untargeted traffic and poor results...

Nothing could be further from the truth, but you need to understand the market before you can target it.

Traffic exchange users are generally opportunity seekers, small business owners etc. looking for a free to low cost way to advertise their offers.

So people are looking for ways to make money on the internet and for ways to get more traffic to their sites. Traffic exchanges are usually also one of the first places people go when they get started in internet marketing.

So we know that people want to make money online and they want to generate traffic to their sites... and since they are relatively new to the game they probably want to learn how to do this.

Knowing this we can now structure our advertising so we give people what they want and presto... the traffic exchanges are delivering highly targeted traffic to your sites.

What Most People Do Wrong

Now that we know what to promote on the traffic exchanges it is time to talk about how to do it.

This is where most traffic exchange users get it wrong. They sign up for an affiliate program, grab their affiliate link and start advertising it on the traffic exchanges.

Of course this approach does not work, because...

1) These long sales page might do well in email advertising, but they take forever to load and read. On traffic exchanges you only have 3-5 seconds to grab people's attention, so forget about the long sales pages.

2) When people surf the traffic exchanges they see many of the same pages over and over again. If your generic affiliate site is just one out of thousands you will never get any results.

Even worse... when the first "generic" affiliate page fails, people will often add a second and a third... further diluting their efforts with pages that will never convert.

Fortunately there is an easy solution to this problem, keep reading this lens to discover how to promote effectively on the traffic exchanges.

You Need To Use A Splash Page

...Also Known As A Squeeze Page

A splash page is short attention grabbing page for traffic exchange use. The idea is to use a catchy headline, some strong bullet points and a call to action (either getting people to click through to your site or to sign up for your list).

You can read more about splash pages here.

I can guarantee you 100% that a splash page will out perform any "long" sales letter you enter into the exchanges. And because only a small % of traffic exchange users use splash pages they are even more effective... you stand out from the crowd.

I recommend adding a subscribe form to your splash pages so you can use the traffic exchanges to build an email list. The easiest way to do this is use something like Instant Squeeze Page Generator or maybe advertising some of the squeeze pages found inside the Affiliate Funnel

To build a list you of course need an auto responder and we recommend AWeber as the absolute best choice.

Brand Your Name And Face

You should definitely add your name and picture (and your logo if you have one) to your splash pages.

When people see you again and again on the traffic exchanges they will start to remember you and perceive you as successful.

This makes it infinitely more easy to get subscribers and/or clicks from your splash pages, because people want to do business with people they "know, like and trust".

An added benefit is that page views that don't convert will still benefit you in the long run as you keep establishing your traffic exchange brand.
