The Proper Golf Swing Path Explained
Ranked #1,940 in Sports & Recreation, #54,783 overall
We all are aware how important a golf swing is for any game of golf.
Before discussing about the proper golf swing path, let us first know what a golf swing path is. The golf swing path can be said to be the curve that the clubhead pursues all through the course of the golf swing. This path or route starts with the takeway, arches in the upward direction through the top of the swing, and then moves downwards through the ball and in the direction of the goal.
A golfer's swing path depends upon his posture, swing speed, stance and most importantly, the takeway. All these factors also contribute to the proper golf swing. The takeway happens in the beginning one or two feet of the swing. This is indeed a negligible part of the swing but it controls the swing path to a great extent. A club taken away on a flat path will result in a flat swing. Similarly, if the club is taken away in an upright path, the swing has all chances of being upright too.
What is a proper golf swing path?

The proper path for a golf swing is better understood with three positions in the golf swing. You need to follow the golf club positioning in these positions in your personal golf swing for that proper golf swing path.
The first swing position to be noted is at the start of the takeway. The clubhead should be positioned for an inside turn while still staying in front of our hands. In this position, the shoulders, arms, wrists and hands are placed in the same relative position as they were before the occurrence of the takeway. This one-piece takeway is vital for a proper golf swing path.
The second swing position is when the shaft is parallel to the ground or near it when the backswing begins. Here the toe of the clubhead needs to be pointed to the sky upwards for a neutral swing. In this position too, the shoulders, arms and hands get together for a great swing.
The last golf swing position is...

The third and last position is at the top of the swing wherein you can judge whether your own swing path is appropriate. To begin with, check if your shaft is pointing to the target when it is parallel to the ground. You need to hold your swing at the top. You will have to drop your arms in such a way that the grip is in contact with your body. Your club is now rested on your right shoulder or left shoulder, if you play left-handed. This will ensure that you have a proper golf swing path.
One more trick to have a look at your own swing path is to place a full-length mirror behind your body. All said and done, it is preferable to go for the best Golf Swing Course to improve and get the proper golf swing. You will also get to know the finer points about a golf swing path in these lessons.
