Running their successful building company on the Coast from the early 1950s, Rod Blandford was destined to become one of the most successful individuals in the building industry.

He was indentured to McKinnon & Blandford to start his Carpentry Apprenticeship after finishing high school in 1974. He further spent his life in building industry and worked for 5 years, successfully completing his apprenticeship and passing with honours. In 1981, he and his wife returned to Darwin and ran his own successful building company for 8 years, earning industry awards for the job he did in residential housing. He also worked with local building company P.J. Burns to establish and manage a project housing division.

In 2005, he began working with Rick McCarthy establishing a property division on the Sunshine Coast & in Brisbane. This started the realization of what is now a promising home building brokerage - National Building Solutions.

With Madeline Horne who has over 30 years of prolific experience in home-ownership, this added to the NBS team's decade of collective knowledge and experience in the industry.
