Welcome to Proverbs as Affirmations
Affirmations are a way that many people use to help change their thinking. Proverbs is a chapter in the Bible that has lots of good instructions, however I decided that I'd like to have it said in a kinder and gentler way.
My first attempt was Affirmational Proverbs. I completed that, but it didn't quite speak to me as much as I had hoped. To me, affirmations, as I knew them, were more empowering. I knew that affirmations worded in a positive way, were really more helpful in my learning and changing. So in 2009, I decided to create Proverbs as real affirmations.
If this speaks to you, then I invite you to join me on a path of using Proverbs as Affirmations.
In blessings.
First, why I chose the word Source
In the Bible, it says that God is spirit - "God is spirit, and those who worship God must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:24
I've also read in the Bible, that in God, we move, live, and breathe.
1 John 1:5 reads, "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness."
To me, if God is spirit and light, then God almost seems more like an energy.
I've also been reading Excuses Begone! by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer. Dyer refers to this connecting spirit, this energy that we live in, as Source. Source seems fitting to me for my understanding of God.
Proverbs as Affirmations is being refined.
I will be refining some of the verses as well as adding a number to the verse. All the chapters will remain here; as they are revised, you will see that the verses are numbered.
Bless you.

people that can be trusted.
I am thankful that there are things which are little on the earth, yet wise. Ants, they store up their food in the summer; rock badgers, they make their homes among the rocks; locusts, they have no king, yet they move in formation; lizards, you can hold one in your hand, and find them in palaces.
I am thankful that there are things that are impressive to watch as they walk; lions, goats strutting, roosters, and leaders who the people are for.
I am thankful that if I had done foolishly in lifting myself up or have thought error, that I lay my hand upon my mouth, and stop and think.
I am thankful that when I churn milk, I get butter.
I am thankful that I am connected to Source.

- My favorite book to read Proverbs is "The Message". I find some of the translations into "modern" English to be quite informative.
I like the Chinese proverb: When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other.
