PSYCHOTHERAPY Connect within to effect change & achieve lasting well-being.
Psychotherapy is an effective treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and survivors of trauma. There are a variety of psychotherapies available, but they all share a number of common attributes:
WELCOME TO THE CENTER FOR MIND & BODY WELLNESS!
Group Psychotherapy
Group psychotherapy is likely the most beneficial psychotherapy method for PTSD, especially for military personnel and veterans. Group treatment is practiced in VA PTSD Clinics and Vet Centers for military veterans and in mental health and crisis clinics for victims of assault and abuse.
Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy
Of the various types of psychotherapy, the one most widely accepted as useful for PTSD is cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy (CBT). CBT is a relatively structured kind of psychotherapy. It involves teaching the patient specific techniques within a limited number of sessions (with "homework exercises" between sessions). The therapist and patient clearly agree on the goals of the therapy.
Specific techniques in therapy for PTSD include exposure and cognitive restructuring. Other techniques, such as relaxation, self-talk and assertiveness training may also be used. Exposure therapy involves gradually facing the thoughts and memories of the traumatic event or situations (places where the event occurred) that make one anxious. This can be done by using imaging techniques or by actually returning to the place where one had an accident. Exposure should be gradual and done with the help of an experienced clinician.

Military Families in Transition
Well, it seems that all of us has known someone in school growing up, where the father was in the military ( in those days it was mostly the father. Today it could be the mother who is in the service. So, needless to say that all those friends of our's that had to keep moving and changing schools was hard.Even the brightest and the best may walk into that new school, walk into that new town, and think, 'Am I going to fit in? And how am I going to find friends?
Moving is a really big stress, especially on teenagers. there are so many changes happening for teenagers anyway, when you rip them away from their friends and teachers they can experience all kinds of stress that can lead to learning disabilities, ADD, ADHA and depression etc. They will tend to hold their feeling inside as we know, the only way to solve a problem is to talk about it. If you let it sit there in the back of your mind, it's going to start festering in your brain... you've just got to let it out.
The Challenge of Every Military Wife - The personal growth of meeting new people and having new experience gets old. So, the questions that arise "What do you mean we have to be across the country next week? How can the kids be pulled out of sports, school and the arms of their best friends again? All you can think about is, it's good thing we still have some of the cardboard boxes left from the last move. We never got around to unpacking them, so that is even better. Does this sound familiar?
Other Problems When Families of Kids with Special Needs Move Frequently there are different problems.
If the medical and educational pieces are not in place, "we're already behind" when we move. Every time the family transfers, they start at the bottom of a new list for care and assistance. You get the picture
