Pug Rescue
- Prepare your house for a home check. Most pug rescue groups will tour your home to check that is is safe for new pugs! Many will not adopt to renters, and will check to make sure you are telling the truth about renting. While I don't personally find this fair, you will need to jump through the hoops to rescue a pug.
- Don't expect to save money. While you can buy a pug for $300-$1600 and even more, you will often end up paying around $500 for a rescue pug. Pug rescue groups claim this is for shots and having the pug fixed, although this seems quite high. Remember, there are usually more than one pug rescue group in each city, shop around. Find the one you support the most!
- Volunteer your time. Pug rescues need more than just people to adopt a pet, they need help! Many hold rescue drives and events, which need to be staffed. Volunteer your time and expertise to build websites, promote events or whatever you can offer!
- Don't rescue a pug if you can't take care of it. Since this is a shelter animal, you have no control over its parentage or health history. Be prepared to take care of your pug no matter what. Rescuing a pug means a commitment! Be prepared to make it.
- When you are ready to rescue a pug, fill out the paperwork right away. Get yourself approved and on a waiting list. Don't let your kids fall in love with a certain pug, only to find out that the rescue did not approve your application.

Pugs

I share my home and my life with a pug and one day, I hope to have many pugs as housemates. I recently heard another pug owner exclaim, "They're the best little creatures I've ever known!" and I have to agree.
