Pumpkin Crafts

I've always loved painting (I'm a Donna Dewberry One-Stroking painting follower!) but I absolutely fell in love the first time I painted a pumpkin! I really don't know why ... the pumpkin surface was so fun and easy to paint on. The designs were simple but yielded huge, 'wow' factor results. I was hooked on Pumpkin Painting.

Pumpkin Crafts are not just for Halloween. We'll discover pumpkin crafts that are perfect and perfectly simple for the entire Fall/Harvest/Thanksgiving Season.

Pumpkin Painting: My Favorite Of All Pumpkin Crafts

Years ago, the only thing you could do with pumpkins during the Fall was carve them for Halloween. Fortunately, Pumpkin Crafts are an important part of Autumn for kids of all ages...even grown-ups like me!

The most versatile of all the pumpkin crafts is Pumpkin Painting. By using the surface of the pumpkin as your artist's canvas, you can create the most vibrant and clever decorations.

The shape of a pumpkin lends itself most obviously to faces ... a silly, whimsical face, a witch's face, a scarecrow face, even a Frankenstein face.

But, pumpkin crafts, particularly pumpkin painting can span much further than the Halloween season. By painting fall flowers, fall leaves or even by turning a pumpkin into a turkey, beautiful and unique pumpkin crafts can be created well into the Thanksgiving season.

The best part of pumpkin crafts which involve painting is getting children involved. No cutting is required for pumpkin painting so even the youngest crafter can enjoy this fun activity.

The process of painting a pumpkin is really as simple as paint by numbers when you have the right patterns, supplies and accessories. Oh, and another great thing! Pumpkin painting doesn't take hours and hours (an important point for those with short attention spans!) In less than an hour, you can have your first pumpkin painted and sitting on your porch for everyone to admire.

Cyber-pumpkins unite! This is the coolest Halloween site. It allows you to carve an online pumpkin. So while you're keeping your pumpkins fresh and vibrant by painting them instead of carving, try this instead. Even kids can do it!

Cool idea! I'm going to let my sister know about your lens...with two kids of her own, she'll be glad to know there's a way of decorating pumpkins that doesn't involve gooey pumpkin guts all over the kids and the house ;-)

I'm a pre-school teacher and this was definately a better alternative to the messy carving that most teachers do and the best part is the kids get to do it themselves instead of the adult doing ALL the work! The other teachers in the school are doing it now too! Can't wait to do it again this fall!!

What a neat idea. This is something I could do with my daughter's Girl Scout troop. Thanks for the idea. Pumpkin painting sounds fun (and not too messy).
