Perfect Pitch, or absolute pitch (just another name for perfect pitch), is the ability to identify the pitch of a tone.

For example, if someone were to play a random note on the piano, a person with perfect pitch would be able to determine exactly what the note was being played just by listening to the sound!

For example, a musician will be payed some note - lets say an F. Now he listens to another tone; however, he does not know what the pitch of the second tone is. Therefore, the musician will compare the sound of the second tone to the F he heard before to determine its pitch.

However, when determining the pitch of a tone through perfect pitch, the tone is not compared to another. The musician must determine the pitch just by listening to it.
