Pyrmont; Amazing....
A Little About Pyrmont
Pyrmont had a population of over 30,000 in the 1900s but this dropped to around 900 by 1991. This has created an abandoned community, much to the concern of the national government. In order to address this problem, the "Better Cities Program" was launched and this has led a larger community and a number of businesses moving back into the area. By this time, Pyrmont became known as a working class industrial and port community, but it was still considered as a slum area. It used to have a sugar refinery which was operated by CSR Limited but the area has already been replaced by high-rise residential developments such as Jackson's Landing.Pyrmont is known today by several landmarks. One of these is the first Pyrmont Bridge which opened in 1858. Another bridge opened in 1902 and this is the site of Sydney Aquarius , a sea museum which has three fish bowls dedicated to the oceanic life. The first fish bowl has sharks and big fishes and the two remaining ones have seals and smallest fishes swimming. Sydney Aquarius also has a submarine tunnel where people can walk and see the fishes in their natural habitat.

- The Pyrmont Public school was designed by W.E. Kemp. It was built in 1891 and stands at John Street. Its best known features are its belfry and slate roof, a bell tower and its brick structure. Pyrmont Square is a major heritage precinct and includes the Duke of Edinburgh hotel, several homes, and a post office.
