Qasgqai Rugs

The Qashqai were drawn from breakup of the Azeri Turkmen when Shah Ismail Safavi broke their power and created the Safavid Dynasty. As a reward for backing Shah Ismail the Kizilbash Qashqai were given choice land in Fars. 500 ears later the Qashqai still have those lands where they raise sheep and weave rugs. They are prolific rug makers and make rugs, gabbehs and Kilims. Qashqai rugs are among the most desirable of all Persian Tribal Rugs.
