Quebec City (Ville de Québec, or simply Québec) is the capital of the province of Quebec and is located on the north side of the St. Lawrence. Québec hosts the only North American fortified city north of Mexico whose walls still exist. It was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations in 1985 and is one of the oldest cities in North America.

Quebec City is also known as "la vieille capitale" - capital of the province of Quebec .  As one of North America's oldest cities, it features cobblestone streets and the citadelle right in the middle.  The city's major festival is the winter Carnival, so it is not surprising that the restaurant scene tends to invite cozy warmth, along with an old world French environment.

Among the tourist attractions in the city are the Château Frontenac, a historic hotel which dominates the city skyline, the Assemblée nationale du Québec (provincial parliament), the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (National Museum of Fine Arts), the Museum of Civilization, Montmorency Falls and the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré.
