Beginner Photography Tips
As a new photographer we know it can be hard to get started and get some beautiful photos. We hope to help you with these few tips.
Starting as a novice photographer can be frustrating and we understand that, so start out using a simple digital camera, maybe even something disposable or even your iPhone. Don't go overboard buying the most expensive camera and accessories. Learn a little about the smaller and easier digital cameras and move your way up as you use your camera more.
Read the manual. If you buy a camera or have a camera then read the manual and understand the settings and controls on your camera. I would suggest to start with charging your camera as most of the batteries are completely drained by the time they reach you. This in turn gives you time to read up on your camera. It pays to go through the entire manual, if only to familiarize yourself with where everything is. Until you are familiar with all the controls, you will be referring to the manual frequently. Play with your camera's settings. Try to discover every function available in your camera.
Know how to hold your camera. This is very important and you can refer to our other article for more information on this. How to Hold a Digital Camera.
Keep a camera on you everywhere you go. You never know when the best shot will come. Use the camera as often as possible. Practice, practice, and then more practice is the key to improvement. Shoot what interests your eyes, and keep those eyes wide open when you press the shutter. Most of all, trust your instincts.
When taking photos get in close. Fill the frame with your subject. Filling the frame helps to make the subject of your photo unmistakable and also helps to remove those unwanted distractions from the background. Improve indoor photography by using flashes and dampeners and outdoor photography by composing a picture using the natural surroundings.
Learn the basic rules of photography. The amount of information on photography is overwhelming and there is an unbelievable amount of free resources. Enjoy the learning process and take advantage of the information that can be found online, in magazines, books, and from other photographers. Be open to what more experienced photographers have to say about technique. You have to know the rules before you can break them.
Last, don't be afraid of your camera, experiment, try different things. You will be shocked how quickly all of this will come together.
