Quinceanera Party

Today's Quinceañera celebration rivals the budget expense of many weddings and in many instances expense is no object when it comes to a young girl's quinceanera party.

Every aspect of the Quinceañera celebration has a symbolic meaning from the earrings to the shoes. Depending on the parents' financial budget, padrinos may be invited to be a part of the Quinceañera planning. A padrino is a sponsor for a certain expense of the Quinceañera party. For instance, you could have Padrinos (godparents) to contribute funds for the limo, the expense of the limo would then be paid by that padrino sparing the parents that expense. Padrinos (godparents) to contribute funds for this special day. But most often family and friends will be the first to volunteer to be padrinos.

You could also have a different padrino for every expense of the Quinceañera celebration, from church or banquet hall decorations to her personal items, such as her rosary, bible, and jewelry she plans to wear. In other parts of the world it compares to a sweet sixteen, Cotillion, or, in more affluent communities, the debutante ball for those who turn eighteen.

There are several different theories as to the origin of this celebration; the most common theory is that the Quinceañera was the result of the blending of the traditions from both Spanish conquerors and the native people in Mexico in a mostly religious way. Specifically, this celebration contains elements of the the coming of age traditions and ceremonies of the native people along with elements from Spanish culture. The Quinceañera resembles and probably gets its name from a 16th-century Spanish tradition of presenting one's 15 year old daughter to society. Over time, as the natives were converted to Catholicism by the missionaries, they also began to emulate some of the practices of the Spanish.
