Are You A Quitter?

Ranked #77,041 in Education, #1,231,587 overall

I am a quitter from way back!

They say quitters never win, well I am a quitter from way back - which technically makes me a big fat loser. My original dream and desire was to be a doctor. My entire family was in the medical field, I had lived around hospitals all my life, I was a very, very smart girl and I absolutely planned to grow up and become a Doctor (yes that is with a capital D, thank you very much).

What happened to my dreams?

For starters there were my Biology and Chemistry classes in High School- dissect a cat? Yuck- kkyyyyy, no way was I going to ever do that again; then there was the discovery that I was way too sensitive to other people's pain - your back hurts where? So does mine, ouch!

Well at least I was a great writer and I got accepted to one of the best High Schools in the country where I helped to start an underground paper and wrote a gossip column (Gossip Girl indeed) so I would become a journalist - yes absolutely - I would go to college and become a journalist.

Can I Live & Dream At The Same Time?

Or why I didn't go to college

Oh wait college costs money, my Mom was a single parent with 5 kids, somehow I missed all the info about financial aid and scholarships (look people I've always lived in another as yet unidentified universe, just ask my kids).

And the Marine Corps recruiter was extra sharp in his dress blues and had probably sold ice to Eskimos in a past life- so I somehow managed to become the first person from my school to ever join the military right out of school!

Give up on my dreams? At that point I had never even tried to achieve any of my dreams. Four years in the military made me realize that I wasn't going to retire from the military in 20 as I had originally planned. The Marine Corps of the late 70s was still fairly racist, sexist, and cliquish.

You had to go along to get along and get promoted or even sent to the good technical training. I was 17 when I joined, no one had ever taught me how to suck up. So I remained outspoken and my military career was a bust.

Don't cry for me Argentina cause I always quit before the blessing

As a teenager I planned to have one husband and 12 children. Unfortunately the first husband I chose was a Marine who drank too much sometimes (OK every weekend and some weekdays) and became abusive. I had two kids by the time I was 20, so I was well on my way to the 12 kids goal, but the one husband dream was shattered.

I eventually made my way to college (I was depressed because I was 22 and realized that all my friends were graduating from college that year) but a failed relationship derailed my 4.0 GPA and it took me 7 years to get back into school and finally walk across that stage and receive my Bachelors degree.

Never fear, I did finally achieve some of my dreams, but did you find a common thread in my failures? Like the fact that I always quit right before some important breakthrough, with little research or information. Or that I would give up because I didn't think that "it" would actually happen for me.

For example: One trip to the Guidance Counselors office would have put me in an Ivy League college with enough money for tuition and board. But I never took that walk down the hall, now did I?
Important!

Quitters never finish

Not because they don't try hard enough, but because they don't keep at it long enough

Enough about me - let's talk about you.

are you a Quitter?

-Do you give up too quickly, too easily, no questions asked?
-Do you ever wonder where a different choice at the fork in the road would have led you?

Let me ask you this: Are you ready for the success that the right choices could bring? Do you truly believe that you deserve a successful career, a healthy relationship, a thinner you, or a fabulous lifestyle?

Before you can achieve any of these goals, you must first have financial freedom. I know what you are thinking; you're thinking "What's financial freedom got to do with anything?" It's simple; you need money to achieve all the other stuff.

Take our obsession with weight loss as an example- it's just about impossible to focus on a weight-loss goal when you are living paycheck to paycheck, or can't put gas in your car, or are 3 months behind on your mortgage.

Quitters never finish, not because they don't try, but simply because their belief system is too weak. I am going to help you to become a finisher, and ultimately a winner in this game we call life.
