IF ONLY!
I shutter to think that my life or those of my friends or prospects are controlled by the response, "If Only!" For example, "If only I had the money I'd love to do such-in-such, or travel to so-in-so a place."
What are we waiting for? What stands between us and our dreams. You may be surprised!
What are we waiting for? What stands between us and our dreams. You may be surprised!
Acting On Your Dreams
What if I told you that the only thing that stood between you and your dream is your thinking?STOP! Think about that for a moment! If you are like most of us, you think, "I can't do that! Only rich people travel go exotic places, own big cars, eat at fancy restuarants, send their kids to the better colleges, and so on." Who told you that? Did a rich person tell you that? Did you parents teach you that? The problem is, whoever told you that, ap-parently convinced you of it. The result is that You've stuffed your dreams for another life! One in which you're born rich! Ha! Ha! HA!
What if someone told you for the tenth or one-hundredth time that no one is keeping you from your dreams, except you and your self-talk? Would you consider a new way of thinking that could change your whole life? Would you stop telling yourself that you can achieve your dreams?
Don't rely on friends or family members to help you fulfill your dreams
I learned as I was growing up that friends and family are the worst people to share my dreams with. Yet, how many of us continue to fall into the trap of sharing our excitement over a new adventure with them, and come away disappointed,if not de-molished! If you are destined to continue such practice, the following information may not be of much help to you. If not, let's begin!
Everything started with a Dream
Everything you see started with a dream, which turned into a vision. Imagine that the shirt or blouse you are wearing was once but a dream.
The chair you are sitting on, the house or building you call home was once nothing but a figment of some-one's imagination.
To make it better. Look at some of the great men and women of history. Some of them started out rich. many started out poor, living on tenant farms, or residing in ghettos. Their neighbors, or society, and in many, if not most cases, their family did not encourage or pressure them, or provide resources for them to climb out of their situation. It was their which became a reality.
I suspect that you have had dreams about what you would like to do or be in the future. What happened to your dreams? More than likely, your parents or someone close to you told you that you needed to stop dreaming, get an education, and get a job (working to help someone else fulfill their dream). Next thing you know, you're married with children, and your dreams are viewed as an impediment to your "success" in providing for you and your family. They are soon buried or forgotten.
All is not, however, lost! If all that stands between you and your dream is your thought, then, unless you're brain-dead, your thoughts can be revived. The only question that remains is what is standing between you and your living out your dream?
Someone might respond that what stands between you and your dream is the same things that stood their before - money, time, or people who did not support your persuing your dream. A quick look around would reveal that those who rose up out of poverty faced the same problem. The only difference was that they refused to let go of their dreams. they did not plop on the couch after a hard days work to watch TV, or participate with the "Happy Hour" group. They used what little extra time they had to write out our dream, determine how they were going to achieve it, and begin to gather the resources needed to fulfill it.
I know that the majority of people in this world are not fulfilling their dreams, if for no other reason than most state that they hate their job. Talking with people reveal that many still struggle with trying to explain why they are alive in the first place. Even more people spend themselves into overwhelming debt seeking to satisfy some deep whole in their psyche which needs filling. If you are one of these people, perhaps you to, have fallen for the lie that success requires falling in line with the rest of those who are grudgingly helping someone else live their dream!
For me, and I hope for you, there is another way. It is a way that will take some work. It starts with re-training our minds to think differently about life, and the way that we want to live it.
It starts with identifying and writing out our dream, and answering the question, what are we waiting for in our move to fulfill it? For me, it has taken a couple of years to peel away all of the rationalizations for continuing down the same path. I have also had to come to the realization that I cannot depend upon others to help me fulfill my dream. Yes, I need to love others, to be respon-ible as a parent and/or husband. Yet, at the same time, you and I must live the life we were given. To do so, we must be true to our self. God created us to be productive. That does not happen until we get started. Our productivity is directly linked to living out our dreams!
