Do you remember Daredevil Debbie?

When I was a young child, Daredevil Debbie was everywhere! She was on TV, in comic books and she was REAL! Daredevil Debbie was based on upon real life daredevil Debbie Lawler.

A female version of Evel Knievel, Debbie Lawler was a motorcycle stunt driver and jumper in the 1970's. In February of 1974, Daredevil Debbie broke Evel Knievel's indoor world record by jumping 16 Chevy pickups for a total of 101 feet.

I received Daredevil Debbie for Christmas one year and also got Evel Knievel. I was a happy kid! Let me tell you how these two influenced me.

Do you love great coffee? I am a coffee lover. Morning, noon or midnight, I usually have a great cup of coffee beside me.

Recently my 5 year old very expensive coffee Brewstation died from a short circuit. Unbelievable, but I didn't have a backup coffee maker either! Being out of work for 6 months doesn't lend itself very well to going out and spending a wad of cash on a new coffee system.

For over a week I explored the possibilities for replacement while I boiled water and poured it over the grounds in the old system and drank not so great coffee. You can imagine, I was becoming a bit anxious to get this resolved.

It looks like Summer has decided to take a break early this year and bring on the Autumn. I love this time of year. It is not so hot you can't breathe and makes for days that are nice to stay inside and make soups and other heart and tummy warming recipes. Snuggling up with a good book or a loved one is also a good choice.

When the leaves begin to change we always plan a trip to the mountains. The view is breathtaking. Let's go for a ride!

Do you remember Led Zeppelin?

I was a child of the 1970s. Music was extremely varied. From the "Bubblegum" sounds of the Osmonds, Shaun Cassidy and Leif Garrett, I soon moved to the "hard stuff".

By the time I was 11, I had Robert Plant on the back of my bedroom door. It was one of those big posters too! Led Zeppelin was my music candy of choice, with Robert Plant being the "Tootsie Roll" center.

I remember when my mother used to buy these in the box. They never lasted long as even store bought they were too tempting for us. Oh the delicious flavor was almost intoxicating!

Danish wedding cookies made very close to this recipe used to be given as good luck symbols to couples at their wedding. The combination of the walnuts and sugars represented "bumps in the road" and the "sweetness that coats a happy marriage."

I was born and raised in Georgia, USA. I have never known any other way of life than "Southern".

If you come to Georgia for a vacation or just for sightseeing, you'll need a car. It's a big state and the sometimes very long distance between cities or towns is filled with nothing but highway and trees. We like it that way.

There is a lot to see so let's take a virtual tour of my home state and hit the highlights. I'll even add personal moment or two in here for your enjoyment.

Do you remember pressing leaves as a child? I can remember my grandmother and I finding the most beautifully colored leaves to keep as memories of our time together.

My grandmother will have been gone for 20 very long years in October of 2009, but I remember so clearly the times we had together. Each fall before the neighborhood kids would come to clean the leaves from the yard for her, we would walk around and find our treasures for pressing.
