Welcome To Grace Brothers! The staff of this very outdated department store has given people around the world a good belly for almost 35 years! The series was writtein by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft, who already had a string of successful comedies to their credit. The inspired cast gave 100% to every episode and it showed. The main cast included:

Mollie Sugden - Mrs Slocombe

Frank Thornton - Captain Stephen Peacock RASC (Ex)

John Inman - Mr Humphries

Wendy Richard - Miss Brahms

Nicholas Smith - Mr Cuthbert Rumbold

Harold Bennett - Young Mr Grace

Harold Waller - Old Mr Grace

Trevor Bannister - Mr Lucas

Mike Berry - Mr Spooner

Arthur Brough - Mr Grainger

Arthur English - Mr Harmen

Larry Martyn - Mr Mash

Having worked in retail for many years, I can tell you, the characters from Grace Brothers have universal appeal, because each one works at every store in the world! The humor is suggestive, but not nasty, and some of the situations and one liners will having you roaring with laughter. I highly recommend this show, it will do your heart good!

This was a great show, saw all the episodes first time around in England, and many times since on PBS having moved to the USA. Too many times maybe - I fail to see how PBS can air the same show every night for at least the 13 years I have been over here without people having enough! You can spoil a good thing.
So sorry to hear of John Inman's death last year - he was a unique character.
lloyd and Croft produced so many good shows over the years, following on to make Dad's Army and Allo Allo to name just a couple.
Love this lens. 5 *****
