What is a Class A Motor Home?

The Class A motor home is a motorized recreational vehicle, it resembles the bus in size and shape. Size and shape is about the only thing it has in common with a bus. Just don't tell anyone that their Class A Motor Home looks like a Bus. You might get some unpleasant words you would rather not hear. The Class A comes in Luxury and then some so you can see why someone might get upset if you called their baby a Bus.

Top of the Line is Class A

The Class A recreational Vehicles is indeed the top of the line when it comes to RVs. You can get them with every conceivable luxury you can imagine. Finding a small one may be tough but they start at about 24 feet in length and the maximum is 12 meters or 40 feet in length. These wonders of modern engineers can weigh between 15,000 to 30,000 pounds. The under- carriage will consist of a custom 3 to 10 ton truck chassis.

Luxuries Include

You may find full kitchens, full bathrooms with tub and showers and a second bedroom. They have hot and cold running water, a standard electrical system with 100 - 125 volts. Also included is a dining room and very comfortable living areas with sofa, recliners and the full entertainment center.

Most of the Class A motor homes you will find more luxurious than most homes. Picture all leather interiors, wet bars, high quality sound systems and LCD HDTV big screens decked out with the best of everything.

Today you find retirees who sell their homes in favor of traveling from place to place. These RVs will sleep 8 depending on the floor plan selected and they sleep very comfortable too.

At What Price Does All The Luxury Come?

Today you can find lower-end models that start close to $50,000 dollars and a larger, with more luxuries you will find as much as 300,000 plus. There are some very high class RVs fetching more than a million dollars on the road today.

Even though you are going out and about, it is always nice to have some digital entertainment to bring along.

There are a bunch of different kinds of toilets, sure, there is usually one already attached inside, but it doesn't hurt to have a back up, just in case you're primary one breaks down.

Electrical Equipment

These are things like: extra lighting, microwaves, toasters, etc

Solar Panels

Instead of putting wear on your internal electrical systems, and if you are traveling in the summer, then why not hook up some solar panels for energy, it might cut some costs down for you.

Bike Racks

Unless you want to walk or drive everywhere, you had better have a bike rack to bring your bikes with you, This is one of the most bought items when it comes to RV, you always see bikes on the back of coaches all the time.

Cooking Equipment

Yes, you already have your stove inside, but what is the fun in that. Why not get some camping stove to cook outside, it'll almost be like a BBQ, and actually you can bring one of those too.

Now that you have read this list, you understand that there are a few things you might just be missing. Sure some of these are luxuries, and you might not NEED them per say, but they would make the trip that much more enjoyable if you did have them.

A Class B motor home is a van conversion, or van cab attached to the motor home RV portion. Some say these motor homes look like pop-top camper vans and are self-contained much smaller in size but still very comfortable to drive and travel and sleep in. They will have everything you need for cooking, sleeping and entertainment. They will sleep 4 to 6 comfortable with the main sleeping quarters in the rear. The advantage of a Class B motor home is handling and size if you don't happen to need the interior room.

The Class C Style Motor Homes

The Class C comes in very luxurious layouts, but the more economical models make things go easier on checkbook. They are a little smaller and lighter with weight classes from 10,000 to 15,000 pounds. You find the Class C RVs from about 20 to 44 feet long.

The Class C is built on to or built onto a truck chassis keeping the cab portion of the truck. This gives room for a bunk over the cab for more sleeping area. The Class C can accommodate 4 to 6 in comfort without a problem.

These RVs are fully self-contained with bathroom, dining, kitchen and full air condition for heat and cooling. You will also fin entertainment available also.

The Class C new price ranges anywhere from $50,000 on up to $173,000 dollars depending on the floor plan and options added.

A newer added feature to the Class C motor homes is the ever popular slide-outs. What it does is extends bedrooms and living areas with just the touch of a button. Adding a lot more comfortable space to live and sleep in.

Pulling this type of trailer is very stable and very safe and much easier to handle on the road. The extra weight over the trucks rear tires give you much more traction that adds improved handling.

Boondocking is a term given to camping in a campground or a place that does not have water, electricity and sewage hookups, including parking lots or driveways. Found in the good old USA, there are a lot of campgrounds operated by the US do not have full hookups to water and sewage and electricity. A lot of state and county campgrounds do not have full hookups for water, sewage or electricity either. Dry camping or Boondocking is made more livable by having a self-contained RV with the amenities listed below.
