The First Raggedy Ann
It wasn't long before Raggedy Ann became Marcella's favorite playmate. Johnny recognized Raggedy Ann's appeal and wanted other girls to have one to love as well. He applied for and received a patent for Raggedy Ann in 1915.

The Raggedy Ann Series
An artist by trade, Johnny Gruelle expanded on the Raggedy Ann theme and published Raggedy Ann Stories in 1918. It was the first of many children's books featuring Raggedy Ann and her brother Andy. Stories that Warm the Heart

A sequel to the Raggedy Ann Stories was published in 1920. It was called Raggedy Andy Stories. Andy, Raggedy Ann's brother, was introduced at that time. He was dressed in a sailor suit and a hat. More stories featuring Raggedy Ann and Andy.

My mother handmade a pair of Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls. They were stolen when I was a child, but I remember them vividly! Great memories and thank you!

Hi Lizzy -- just checking out your lowest ranking lens today -- I see #92943 overall -- that's pretty good considering almost if not one million lenses. I DO believe I just counted some 95 lenses of mine that are ranked lower than that! Holy Mackeral Andy! Good job my dear.

I still have my doll, however, can't remember the name of the movie with a rag doll (can't remember is Raggedy Ann name was ever used in it)... the doll was lost (in a storm - I think) and replaced with a new expensive doll and the little girl was still very sad. Raggedy Ann found her way home only to see a new beautiful doll in her bed and ran away. This was not a cartoon!!! I know I saw this movie on TV when I was a kid sometime in the 1960s but, I can't remember nor find out the name of it. Does anyone know??? Would love to buy the DVD version, if it exists. I'm thinking it was probably an episode of some story telling TV show that featured a different story with different characters every week. What was it???
