Who Is This Bombshell?

Raquel Welch was born in Chicago on September 5, 1940. She competed in beauty contests as a teenager, and was crowned Miss Fairest of the Fair, Miss Maid of California, and Miss Contour, a title that would accurately foreshadow what much of her early career was built upon.

The former sex kitten has reached her late 60s, yet is still considered a serious sex symbol contender. Raquel Welch has seen her share of personal and professional ups and downs, but has endured and gained the respect and recognition she strived for back in her bikini days.

Raquel Welch has appeared in 38 movies, according to Wikipedia. Following are reviews of several of Raquel's movies.

Raquel Welch in Myra Breckinridge

Myra Breckinridge

I have been walking past this movie for years in the video store and passed it up as many times... except this last time.

Of course Raquel is a steamy dream in her flashy and skimpy get-ups [a bonus] but the story is equally as fun to watch unfold. Since I don't like to give away too much on a review, I will leave you with a few tidbits to ponder:

1] Watch it for the cast (Raquel Welch, Farrah Fawcett, Rex Reed, Mae West, Tom Sellek, etc.)

2] Stay for the mildly eyebrow-raising plot.

  • there is a strap-on.

  • there is a nurse with a bullwhip.

  • there are fabulous costumes made with scant amounts of fabric.

  • there is an acting ranch.

  • there is gender questioning.

  • there is gender non-answering.

  • But for your own good I will leave you with a quote:
"I like it when you touch me... up to a certain point."
That's Farrah's character to Raquel's character. It is what you think.

    Raquel Welch in Fathom

The world's most uncovered undercover agent

    Fathom

Raquel Welch was simply gorgeous in this movie in her green bikini. Raquel plays a character named Fathom Harvill who's built a reputation as one of the best sky divers in the business. After hearing about Fathom's reputation she's now being watch and then recruited by a top secret government agent who want her to do a job for him. The agency wants Fathom to sky dive into the middle of Spain to try recovering a missing war defector, Tony Franciosa, and a missing H-bomb detonator he is believed to possess. However, Fathom gets in way over her head and gets more then she bargained for. As Fathom unravels the truth will she get out of Spain alive? The other question is whose double crossing who? I give the movie 5 stars based on the beauty of Raquel Welch alone. She makes watching this movie worth the time.

    Raquel Welch in 100 Rifles

    100 Rifles

This one is the best of all the Raquel Welch Westerns. It has plenty of action and great storyline. The best part with Raquel is when she is taking a shower from a railroad water tank to confuse the Mexican soldiers that are on a passing train; who cannot help but look? She is dressed but the clothes are tight - and see-thru!!! What a scene!!! Plenty of action in this movie - especially the love scene with Jim Brown. Raquel Welch is really hot in this scene.
This along with Bandeloro are the best Raquel Welch westerns - you will want to see both of them.

Raquel Welch in One Million Years BC

    One Million Years BC

The cover will tell you if you are interested in this movie or not. Raquel Welch in 1967 running around in a fur bikini in cavemen times. Except for the grunting and screaming there is no dialog, but if you see the cover and want the movie, than dialog doesn't concern you anyway.

Yes it is scientifically inaccurate. Preschoolers know that mankind didn't exist during the dinosaur age. Grade schoolers know that pteradachdils weren't as big as a house. High schoolers should know that there were no set 'stone tribes' and 'shell tribes'. But at this point, after another look at the cover, you don't care.

You want this movie for Raquel Welch obviously. You will not be disappointed. I can't believe they were actually able to develop the celluloid. She's so hot I'm surprised it didn't melt in the process. Her sexuallity is so obvious that any man would love to live in a cave for awhile and eat raw boar with her. Of course her tribe lived at the beach and except for giant turtles, they really had no problems. So be a man and be not ashamed to run right out and order or buy this flick. She made it for you, so by all means enjoy it!

After seeing this, you'll wonder why Bo Derek made the movie '10'. The answer is that Raquel rates an 11 and maybe the world isn't ready for that movie yet.

    Raquel Welch? Hubba hubba.

    Raquel Welch in Bandolero

    Bandolero

James Stewart masquerades as a hangman in order to save his brother, Dean Martin, leader of the notorious Bishop Gang. They then flee to Mexico with beautiful hostage Raquel Welch. George Kennedy plays the lovelorn sheriff who pursues with a half-hearted posse.

Everything about this 1968 Western works! The first 45 minutes involves the capture, attemted hanging, and escape of the Bishop Gang, and it's simply one of the most memorable sequences in Western film history. Some people complain about Stewart and Martin as brothers but I've seen many brothers in real life that look more different than these two.

Even though Martin plays an outlaw he's portrayed in a highly likable, sympathetic manner. He's weary of the outlaw lifestyle and desperately wants out. Stewart and Welch offer him the way out by way of stolen money and true love respectively. They all dream of a new life in Montana. There's just two problems: Kennedy & his posse and wild Mexican bandits (bandeleros).

I must say that George Kenney is outstanding as the stolid Sheriff who has a puppy-love passion for Raquel Welch. She naturally finds him unexciting, however. As a hostage to the Bishop gang she slowly discovers true-love for the first time in her life (for Martin, of course).

Watching Raquel's body bake and sweat in the Mexico heat and sun made this picture worth it.

    Raquel Welch in Fantastic Voyage

    Fantistic Voyage

The United States and the Soviet Union have both developed technology that allows matter to be miniaturized using a process that shrinks individual atoms, but its value is limited because objects shrunk return to normal size after a period of time - the smaller an object is made, the quicker it reverts.

Scientist Jan Benes, working behind the Iron Curtain, has figured out how to make the shrinking process work indefinitely. With the help of the CIA, he escapes to the West, but an attempted assassination leaves him comatose, with a blood clot in his brain.

To save his life, Charles Grant (the agent who extracted him, played by Stephen Boyd), pilot Captain Bill Owens (William Redfield), Dr. Michaels (Donald Pleasence), surgeon Dr. Peter Duval (Arthur Kennedy) and his assistant Cora Peterson (Raquel Welch) board a submarine, the Proteus, which is then miniaturized and injected into Benes. The ship is reduced to one micrometre in length, giving the team only one hour to repair the clot; after that, the submarine will begin to revert to its normal size and become large enough for Benes' immune system to detect and attack.

The crew faces many obstacles on their journey. They are forced to detour through the heart (a temporary cardiac arrest must be induced to avoid destructive turbulence), the inner ear (all in the lab must remain quiet to prevent similar turbulence) and the alveoli of the lungs (where they replenish their supply of oxygen). When the surgical laser needed to destroy the clot is damaged, it becomes obvious there is a saboteur on the mission. They cannibalize their radio to repair the laser. When they finally reach the brain clot, there are only six minutes remaining to operate and then exit the body.

Do they get the job done? Do they make it out alive? I guess you'll have to buy the DVD :)
