THE READING BUG
SQUISH ME
Give your child a challenge. Rather than simply having them read a book or story, give them a goal to complete while reading a page or paragraph.
One way would be to ask him or her to find a word or phrase and when they come upon it to let you know.
For instance, in the following activity story, ask the child to read out loud to you and see if they can find the bug....
Jonny was a good boy, he did as he was told and worked hard at school.
One day, Jonny was playing football with his friend Tim in the school field and was having good fun. Tim kicked the ball out into the long grass and Jonny went to get it.
In the grass Jonny looked down and saw something on the ground. It was black, shiny and covered in spots. It had six legs and crawled quickly across the grass.
Jonny the saw Tim run quickly to get the ball. "Watch out" Jonny shouted.
Squish! Tim had stepped on the bug. "Yuk" said Tim as he looked at the bottom of his shoe at the messy spot. "You stepped on a bug" Jonny laughed, "I found a bug but you also found the bug on the bottom of your shoe".
The two laughed and carried on playing football until it was time for tea.
The End.

- Ice Hockey Rules
- Ice Hockey can be complicated to understand, especially when you have so much action happening, and so fast! OK, putting the puck in the back of net is obvious, but if you want to know all the ins and outs of this cool (get it :) sport, have a read here.
