Dignity not charity
We want to go beyond traditional aid, which can create dependency by treating low income people as passive recipients of charity. This can deny not only the talent they have to contribute but maybe their most important asset - their dignity.
What makes Acumen Fund different is that we want to break the back of the endless emergency of poverty. By finding solutions that remove obstacles, we give individuals and families a better chance at solving their own problems. By investing in enterprises that scale, we can get at the roots of the problem. Read on to learn more about our approach, our successes and how you can help us bring dignity not just charity to those in need.
