Focus on food that are rich in nutrients like fruits, vegetables, whole-grain products, and fat-free, or low-fat dairy products. Avoid 'empty calories', which are foods or drinks that are high in calories, but low in nutrients. Limit anything that is high in saturated fat, trans fat, cholesterol, and sodium.

Just give me some general tips please...

Can the recipe for healthy eating being simple?

Well, the American Heart Association recommends the following:
  • Choose lean meats and poultry without skin and prepare them without added saturated and trans fat.
  • Select fat-free, 1 percent fat, and low-fat dairy products.
  • Cut back on foods containing partially hydrogenated vegetable oils to reduce trans fat in your diet.
  • Cut back on foods high in dietary cholesterol. Aim to eat less than 300 milligrams of cholesterol each day.
  • Choose and prepare foods with little or no salt. Aim to eat less than 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day.
  • If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation. That means one drink per day if you're a woman and two drinks per day if you're a man.
  • Follow the American Heart Association recommendations when you eat out, and keep an eye on your portion sizes.

There are so many supplements available on the market.

The array of supplements on the market today makes it difficult to choose the one that is right for you. Without a lab work up, there's no way of knowing what deficiencies you have in your diet. Is my genetic make up really that important?

You're health is a result of interactions between your genes and lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise stress, smoking, and alcohol. Lifestyle factors are the risk factors that you can IMMEDIATELY change to decrease your risk for disease.

Your genetic make-up determines which nutrients are used in your body; the way toxins are removed, what happens to any waste products and how efficient effective these key processes are working within your body.

By adjusting your lifestyle and utilizing a customized nutritional dietary supplement, you can have a positive impact on how your genes work and compensate for areas in which your genes are not functioning at an optimal level.
