It always amazes me how some artist allow themselves to get
taken because of their unwillingness to handle their business
in the correct way%u2026.

SIDE NOTE: By the way, I'm in a hurry%u2026 There are a few spelling mistakes in this post, now time to correct them what is important for you to focus on is the "Lesson"! Live with the spelling mistakes%u2026.)

I was just reading the news online and came across a news piece on
CNN that read%u2026."Eminem is heading back to court today, kind of.
Slim Shady's publishing company F.B.T. Productions is scheduled to
appear in court to address a lawsuit against Universal Music
Group. F.B.T. claims that it was cheated out of money when
Universal licensed songs to third party distributors like iTunes
and cell phone companies. Most music contracts do not have specific
instructions for how much money an artist is paid for digital
distributions. With that said, this case could impact thousands of
current music contracts.

A jury was selected Friday for a trial that will feature
high-profile witnesses like Jimmy Iovine, chairman of Universal
Music Group, and Steve Jobs, the chief executive of Apple
Computers. Jay Cooper, an entertainment lawyer in the music
industry, says "This is very significant case. A lot of people are
going to be watching very closely because there's a lot of money
involved."

---- OK, so now back to my rant and how this whole thing
can have an impact on YOU!

I mean, how does someone allow themselves to be cheated out of money
that rightfully belongs to them? Is it stupidity, lazyness, their
unwillingness to invest in making sure that they are protected with
the right contracts and agreements or just the "It Won't Happen to
Me" mentality?

Ask yourself, how would YOU feel if you knew that someone cheated
you out of your royalties, especially if you knew that earlier on in
your career, you *Could* have done something to protect yourself?

Have you ever seriously thought about how it would feel, how
humiliating it could be, like how would you explian whta you allowed
to happen?

Now I know that for some people this might be a frieghting scenario,
but to be honest this is way I had the "Music Contracts 101%u2033
package put together for you, just so things like this would not happen
and so that YOUR name would not be the next one written about on
blogs around the world as "The Artist that Got Cheated!"

Protect Yourself, Protect Your Music%u2026 Take 5 minutes out of your
schedule right now to make sure that you have the proper contracts
in place, no matter how small or large your carrer may be right
