Recycling Crafts

There's a lot of product packaging, old clothing, and assorted material remnants of our everyday lives which can be re-used, re-purposed or made into fun and beautiful crafts. There are many reasons to re-use, upcycle or recycle through arts and crafts. Recycled art makes use of things that would otherwise wind up in a landfill. It also reduces the need for the production of new materials in factories to fulfill our creative urges or to provide art in our homes. The same applies to crafts made of recycled items. Additionally, many recycled crafts are purely practical and fulfill everyday uses.

Recycling, re-using and upcycling all keep used products out of landfills but they can also provide economical art and craft materials that anyone can afford.

This page is a collection of wonderful green crafting and art ideas that recycle or re-use common household materials. The next time you are looking for something to fulfill your creative side or to keep your children occupied on a rainy day, think of some of these arts and crafts that re-use and recycle.

I love using items I have around the house to make something practical. I turned an oatmeal can into a tea canister. I had a lot of fun decorating it with paper I had lying around.

Upcycling art is so rewarding - I'm always amazed at how a simple coat of paint can transform something from bland to grand. Great lens with so many interesting options to try! I'd better get started!

Love to recycle as much as we can, and upcycled too. I enjoy scrounging the junk and thrift shops to see what I can use.
