A Story Of Reiki History Passed To Me By My Master

This Reiki history was passed onto me by my Reiki master, now told by me in my own words but the facts still remain the same.

The Reiki story known today began back in the early 1800's but due to translation problems and secrecy it only became more talked about more recently.

The journey began way back in the early 1800's when a Christian Minister named Mikao Usui, a university lecturer at Doshisha university in Japan was quizzed by his students about the Jesus methods of healing. Unable to answer his students Mikao Usui set out to research these methods and spent the next ten years of his life trying to understand the methods used and ended up learning to heal in the same way himself.

Through this research Mikao Usui came to realise that these healing methods had been all but lost, and that there were sacred documents that were held by the Buddhist monks sadly at the time he was unable to translate them, they were in ancient Sanskrit and Usui was advised that they only way for him to find out more would be to study the Buddhist teachings learn to read Sanskrit and to follow the path of enlightenment.

Usui then travelled to America where he lived for the next seven years He was working at the University of Chicago Divinity School, when he received his Doctor of theology degree and studied various religions and different philosophies. It was here that he learned to read Sanskrit the ancient language of Tibet and India. But sadly he learnt no more about the healing method that he sought.

Mikao Usui returned to Japan with his new found knowledge of reading Sanskrit and resided in a Zen monastery.
It was at the Zen Monastery that he found the ancient Sanskrit texts that he desired, the texts described the healing methods that had been used by Jesus and now he had the know how to translate them for himself.
The texts spoke of an energy but there was no information on how to active this energy and make it work. The information had purposely been omitted to keep the powerful knowledge out of the wrong hands and free from misuse.

Usui decided that he must go through the tests as was written in the texts.
The test would be a hard one and it required Mikao Usui to undertake a period of three weeks of fasting prayer and of very strict meditation, He had made a choice of a site on top of the Koriyama mountain in Japan.
Usui piled up 21 small stones to mark the days that would stay there and would at the end of each day throw a stone away until the pile was gone.

On the final day of his test just as the dawn was breaking Mikao Usui saw a beam of light heading towards him, At first he panicked slightly but then composed himself as he knew that he must gracefully accept what would come with faith and poise,if he was to pass the test. The bright light struck him into his third eye and with this he saw hundreds and thousands of tiny rainbow bubbles of light Usui then saw as if being played out on a movie screen the Reiki symbols that we know today, As Usui saw them he was given the meanings of each symbol by thought and was given the information on how to use the symbols and activate the energy. This was the very first Reiki attunement.!
Mikao Usui was now attuned to the same energy that Jesus and the original Buddha had used, he made his way back down the mountain. After 21 days of fasting and meditation he was weak and a little unsteady on his feet and as he walked downwards Usui stumbled and stubbed his toe on a rock his instant reaction was to grasp his toe in his hands, At this point his hands became very hot and the pain began to subside.
Mikao Usui was quite astonished to see that he had healed his own toe without ever intending to do so.
Reiki can activate at any time it is needed even unconsciously.

Along his way down the mountain side Usui came across one of the villagers daughters she was clutching at her swollen face suffering from a very painful tooth ache, Usui placed his hands on either side of the girls face and once again his hands heated up moments later the young girls pain eased off and eventually ceased.

On Usui's arrival back at the Zen monastery he found one of the head monks almost bed ridden with his arthritis Usui went to his bedside and laid his hands onto him and the monks pain eased he too had been healed.

Mikao Usui named the healing energy Reiki, Which when translated means Universal life force energy.

A little time passed when Usui took his gift into the slums of Japan and he was to heal the beggars and the poor.
It was quite ironic though when they turned on him for healing them in doing so Usui had taken away their way of making money now healed they could no longer beg for food and money and needed to work which for many of them was not desirable as they simply didn't want to. It was then that Usui realized that the Reiki had healed the bodies but not the spirit as you can't heal someone's soul if they are not willing to be healed.

Reiki is an energy a powerful universal energy.
The word Reiki translated simply means universal life force energy.

This life force energy flows through every living thing,Reiki is a healing energy and is intelligent it flows where it is needed most.

Illness and disease result from blockages in our body,which affect our natural flow of Ki(energy)
Reiki clears these blockages and allows the Ki free from blockage to flow correctly
It has the ability to heal the mind the body and the soul.
Reiki healers have been given the ability to channel this energy to heal people animals or even plant life. All living things respond to Reiki.

It brings us Balance and peace and harmony on all levels emotionally,spiritually, mentally and most importantly if your in pain physically.

The great part about Reiki is you don't have to take your clothes off O:) unlike many other therapy's

The Reiki healer will either hover their hands just above you or lightly place their hands on specific points around your body.

These are usually the main chakra points but more about chakras later.

A healing session will usually take anything from an hour up to 1 1/2 hours sometimes much less it all depends on the condition to be treated. Many very serious complaints need more than one Reiki session usually after the first one the healer should be able to tell you if you need anymore.

Some people who are perfectly healthy still have regular Reiki sessions its highly likely thats what helps them stay so well.

It is a very special energy.
It changed my life in indescribable ways.
And even if you don't believe it yet it can change yours too.
