Reiki Information

Reiki pronounced "ray-kee" is a form of energy balancing. It stands for "spiritually guided universal life force".

It is done by a laying on of hands either directly on the client or above and very close to the client. The client remains clothed at all times. Reiki is based on energy that flows through us, and is about helping direct the flow of energy.

Sometimes our energy gets blocked with negativity and illness and Reiki helps redirect the energy or break through it. Some people will experience a light tingling sensation or a warm feeling, while others may feel nothing. The sensation is not telling you if it is working or not. Reiki is more about the client absorbing or pulling the energy from you more so than you pushing the energy towards them.

Reiki is spiritual, yet not religious. It is about promoting harmony with others.

There are levels in Reiki.

Level 1 is for physical healing. You will learn hand positions and receive an Attunement.

Level 2 is for emotional healing. You will learn the symbols and how to use them. You will receive another Attunement.

Level 3 is for spiritual healing. You will learn the Master symbol, and learn how to teach others.

It is an art passed from master to student. I've taken classes in Level 1 and Level 2.

Reiki uses something called an Attunment. The placement of energy and symbols within a person, helps the person receiving it their "connection". After an Attunement, you have been connected to your Reiki source. You may or may not feel anything during an Attunement.

Chakras are part of your energy system in your body. Chakras are not a traditional teaching of Reiki, but many people have incorporated them into teachings. Because Chakras are part of the energy system, many teachers relate them, though it is not part of the teachings of Japanese Reiki practices. You may or many not learn about them during your training. Each teacher is individual in this area.
