TRU Talent Management and The American Cancer Society: Relay For Life

I am writing this to let you know about an upcoming event that means a lot to me, as it hits close to home. This event is the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. You may have heard about it, or may even be involved yourself. If you are not familiar with the event, I will explain a little about it.

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a celebration of life. Held in over 4,200 communities across the country, teams representing businesses, friends, family places of worship, and schools camp out overnight-each taking turns walking around the track. Our event is 18 hours. Our team will walk from 6:00 pm on June 12th to 12:00 pm June 13th . The purpose of the Relay for Life is to raise funds for the American Cancer Society to support their mission of eliminating cancer through research, education, advocacy and patient and family services.

It is a great opportunity and privilege for me to be a part of Relay for Life this year. I know that many of us if not all of us, have in some way been touched by the effects of cancer. Some of us know people who have survived, while others of us know the courageous battle that was fought, yet over took our loved ones. I lost two of my greatest heroes in life to cancer- my grandpa and grandma Morgan.

I have already begun formed my 2009 team, and we will be participating in the 18-hour walk/campout at this summer's Relay For Life. My fundraising goal for this year's Relay is $200.00, and I really need your help to meet this challenge. My challenge is nothing in comparison to the challenge that so many children and adults have to face 24 hours a day once diagnosed with cancer. I feel blessed to be part of such an important cause. This year my relay is dedicated to my grandparents, who both fought courageous battles and never gave up during their treatments. I want to do whatever I can to further the work of cancer research in hopes that one day there will be a cure.

That's all you have to do, my team and I will do all the walking and will make sure there is someone on the track the entire 18 hours (even while I'm sleeping!).
