What to Wear to a Renaissance Wedding

The proper attire is the most important feature of a Renaissance wedding! The costumes really give you the feel of being back in medieval times.

The Bride can choose a simple or elaborate gown.

The Groom can dress as a king, knight or lord.

Encourage Your Guests to also dress in costume.

Dressing areas are often limited and it is strongly suggested that the wedding party and guests arrive dressed and prepared for the ceremony.

These styles can be made of heavy clothing, so choose a cooler time of year for your wedding if your costumes would be too warm for a summer wedding.

You can buy or rent a traditional wedding gown and tuxedo, or you can really get into the medieval spirit and buy or rent Renaissance costumes.

Rehearsals

There are normally no on-site rehearsals prior to the ceremony.

It is suggested that you and your wedding party get the measurements
of the wedding venue and set up a mock venue off-site
where you can rehearse.

Reception

Reception

Carefully inquire as to what is included in your reception package. Catered reception prices may include rental of the facility, set-up, cleanup, service and maintenance of the buffet, all table coverings and place settings. You want to make sure that everything you are wanting in a reception is either provided in the reception package or available for additional charges.

You'll want to have fun at your reception, so take the time now to get the details confirmed so that you won't be disappointed
if you were expecting something that wasn't set up.

My friends had their wedding at a Ren Faire two summers ago, and had my daughters dress up as fairies and be flower girls. We had a blast, aside from all the walking.
