Yes! You Can Make Children's Book Repairs...

"You" can do Children's Book repairs, and should be prepared to do so

If you are going to collect children's books you are going to find books you would like, But they have condition problems. They are after all Children's books and most times will display there Children's use wear. Some will be worse then others. With your help some can be brought back to a respectable displayable condition. For that reason you should be able to make simple book cost effective repairs. On this page I will give some tips and ideas that I have learned from experience. But I can not tell you step by step, "How to Technique" on this page.

First you will need a adequate place to do your repair work. You will need a good solid flat surface of the right height for standing or sitting work. A good light is absolutely necessary. You will need readily available supplies. A list of possible supplies follow: Tapes, Glues, Flat Tooth Picks, Waxed Paper, Small brushes, Razor Blades or Exacto Knife, Bone File, Cotton Cloth, Emery Cloth, Sharp Scissors, Pinky Eraser, Weights for pressing, Container for water, Postits, Crochet Needles, Small cotton cloth. Your glues and tapes need to be special designed for book repairs, NO Elmers Glue or Scotch or Duck Tape.

It is best to save up like repair work and do all similar type repairs at one time. Take your time, Relax and enjoy the satisfaction of taking something maybe destined for the trash and bringing to it a new beginning. When using glue use them sparingly, You don't want a gluey mess. Use the wax paper to protect your next page surfaces. Stop and think before you act, there is always more then one way to do a repair. Keep your repairs as discreet as possible, Always protect the original integrity of your collectible book.
