Rescue the Perishing
Lyrics by: Fanny Crosby
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.
Refrain:
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.
Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,
Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.
Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.
Snatch them in pity from sin and the grave;
Weep o'er the erring one, lift up the fallen,
Tell them of Jesus, the mighty to save.
Refrain:
Rescue the perishing, care for the dying,
Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.
Though they are slighting Him, still He is waiting,
Waiting the penitent child to receive;
Plead with them earnestly, plead with them gently;
He will forgive if they only believe.
Down in the human heart, crushed by the tempter,
Feelings lie buried that grace can restore;
Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness,
Chords that were broken will vibrate once more.
Rescue the perishing, duty demands it;
Strength for thy labor the Lord will provide;
Back to the narrow way patiently win them;
Tell the poor wand'rer a Savior has died.

About Fanny Crosby
Frances Jane Crosby (March 24, 1820 - February 12, 1915) usually known as Fanny Crosby, was an American lyricist best known for her Protestant Christian hymns. A lifelong Methodist, she was one of the most prolific hymnists in history, writing over 8,000 despite being blind from shortly after birth.[1] Also known for her preaching and speaking, during her lifetime Fanny Crosby was one of the best known women in the United States.To this day, the vast majority of American hymnals contain her work. Some of her best known songs include "Blessed Assurance", "Jesus Is Tenderly Calling You Home", "Praise Him, Praise Him", and "To God be the Glory". Since some publishers were hesitant to have so many hymns by one person in their hymnals, Crosby used nearly 100 different pseudonyms during her career.

- What sweetness, I see my sister was here a while back, she doesn't get to visit much anymore. Rescue the Perishing was a hymn we sang regularly following up and it planted such good seed in seed in us!

- Strangely, I found this lens by using the discovery tool in reverse. In other words, it recommended my Composing Music with Sibelius Software lens! Thanks for that :) Anyway, I found it interesting, well put together and quite apt considering SibMus traffic decline this year. It made me smile! 5*

- Grew up with this--these songs plant something deep inside. Thank you! Have you considered the songs of Dottie Rambo? She was a great lover of Fanny Crosby and also did amazing songs. I've visited several of your delights tonight and will be back for more another day!
Blessings on your head! Oh, forgot to mention that I am a stranger in Squidooland. I'm Tipi's sister, but I saw your light left in Jaguar Julie's fan club and followed you over--it's been a delight!
