Why Restaurant Ambience?

Going out to eat is a treat for me, and I am picky when it comes to selecting where to eat at. I try to stay away from the fast-food places, because I do not want to feel rushed, and don't care to see people stuffing their faces to get down the last bit of food before they rush back to work or what ever they are in a hurry for.

Eating Out

When it comes to eating out, I am very picky when it comes to who I will give my hard earned cash, if I go to a restaurant first impressions can make the differences on whether I turn around and leave, or stick around to enjoy the cuisine. As soon as I walk in the door, I look at the other patrons and observe whether they are having a good time, are they enjoying their food? Are the servers helpful and courteous? Does the Manager speak to the patrons? How about the esthetics are they visually pleasing? Do they really care about the experience that they offer? Do they want to have Just customers, or clients that return and recommend their restaurant to others?

Got through the Door

After looking at the outside of the restaurant and deciding to go in, and checking out the place before being seated, I look forward to how we are greeted. I will often go to an establishment before inviting business associates to dine, because not only does the restaurant need to make a good impression but so do I, so if the restaurant makes a unfavorable impression that would most likely reflect on myself as having bad taste. The next thing that I observe before ordering is the décor of the restaurant, does the theme stay consistent? After sitting down I check for cleanliness of the eating area, are the tables sticky or spotless? Is the server well groomed? And are the seats comfortable?

Time to Order?

It is still not too late for me to stand up and walk out. My first impression of the food is how they present the selections, if I look at the menu with stains on it, I'm walking out. If the menu style does not match the ambience and décor of the restaurant, I'm walking out. The menu represents the quality and proper representation of the meal that I could expect, therefore I feel the Menu is one of the most important or is the most important factor on my decision on whether to stay and eat, or find somewhere else to go. I have seen many styles and kinds of menus. Some I have seen have been as simple as a sheet of paper that was hand written, and was so worn that I could hardly read them (of course I walked out), and then I have seen printed restaurant menus without any covers that were clean and appeasing (but had to think to myself "it must cost them a small fortune to keep printing new ones to replace a stained or worn menu".), and decided to stay. Then I have seen fancy menu covers, leather menu covers, and wood menu covers. I have even admired the table tent holders; you know the ones that represent the delicious deserts they offer or letting you know what the special of the day is.

Why do I talk about Menus?

I work as a business consultant and have helped many restaurants improve their businesses, and although they have their décor, proper Ambience, great service, and great food. All they lacked was proper presentation of their product, and after purchasing the visually pleasing restaurant menu covers and table tents, they enjoy the increased profits they reaped from their investment, and were able to justify my wages too.
