Who is Richard McGREGOR?

One of the great things about my business is that I enjoy what I'm doing, I have total control over my own destiny and I'm living a life by my own design. I am blessed enough to live in the salubrious climes of Manchester,with its rolling foothills and picturesque dwellings.

The town of Mandeville sits on top of the Manchester Plateau at an elevation of 2,061ft. has a cool climate which is health giving. It was founded in the early 1800s by the then Governor of Jamaica who out of existing parishes created the parish of Manchester. The capital town was named after his son, Lord Mandeville. Mandeville has grown over the years from being the sixteenth largest town in Jamaica to presently being the fifth largest urban center.

On a weekend when Richard McGregor is not working you can him laid back
off the beaten track on Jamaica's desert south coast, in places like Treasure Beach, Little Ochi, or Jack Sprat Restaurant.Treasure Beach is a gem for travelers in search of the off-beat. You won't find a more authentically charming and relaxing place in Jamaica.

The South Coast of St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, is a community-based tourism destination involved in sustainable local development. Richard McGregor find the people to be laid back, friendly, and proud to be Jamaican. There are six miles of sandy beaches, private coves, and rocky shorelines, four public beaches well suited for swimming, snorkeling, and body-surfing as well the residents who liberally share the island's vibrant culture and rich history with its visitors.

Little Ochi, is on the sea- coast near Alligator Pond in St. Elizabeth is one of the cooler spots to relax, dance and eat when you wish to get away from townships, fancy restaurants and formality.
It has become a regular spot for people who celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, mother's, father's and children's day and more recently, Seafood Festival on July 8th.
The food line-up includes fish of various types, lobsters, shrimps and crabs - when in season. The conventional preparation is done for shell- fish, but all other fish is done to your choice- fried, steamed or roasted. These are served with festival and bammies and of course, there is pickled onions and pepper in vinegar at hand to spice up your dish. There is also cool drinks, beer and harder liquor, whichever you desire. The Festival incorporates much dancing, games, swimming, eating, drinking and just 'letting the hair down', as the saying goes.

Richard McGregor believe that in order to live a life by design, it's important to serve other and be charitable to our neighbors. As such I'm actively involved in a variety of community-based organizations such as: Jamaica Red Cross-Clarendon Branch, Friend of the May Pen Hospital, and Clarendon Association for Street People (CLASP).
The Friends of the May Pen Hospital is a group of devoted volunteers who see it as their civic duty to be a bridge the hospital community and clients it serves. As a result this civic organization through various fund-raising activities assist in making each clients visit to the hospital a pleasant experience. One activity we engage in is to organize a Christmas Treat for the children at the hospital. On that day Richard McGregor put on his Santa suite and hand out gifts to all the kids present.

If you are to live a life by your own design then it's very important that you not only work smart but schedule time to share and play with friends and especially family. After all one of the benefits of a home-based business is the availability of more time to devote to family.
These are some of Richard's favorite hangout spots :

1) Dunn's River Falls
Perhaps the most celebrated beauty spot in the Ocho Rios area. Dunn's River Falls is one of my favorite vacation spots. I love the parish of Saint Anns in general.The waterfall, which cascades over wedding cake tiers of smooth rock directly onto the beach, offers a challenging climb to the top-600 feet up. The ice-cold water is a refreshing experience.

2) Chukka Cove
Situated about 15 minutes from Ocho Rios, just beyond St. Ann's Bay on the way to Montego Bay, Chukka Cove is a farm and stable which offers rides to suit anyone, from beginners to the most experienced. Their beach ride takes you through a dairy and cattle farm to the beach where an exhilarating ride through the waves will get your adrenaline flowing.
Their Safari Tours is also a must experienced. The whole atmosphere is so nature-like. You are transported in zebra-striped jeeps to White River for a breathtaking river tubing ride or on a hiking trip through the hills and down to Dunn's River Falls or through the timeless, unhurried, Jamaica countryside, seldom seen by visitors.

3) Dolphin Cove
This is also another nature tour that i like to visit.This time visitors get an opportunity to touch some of the animals such as the dolphins apart from watching them go through their breathtaking routines.
An exciting nature hike is also offered where you see parrots, native snakes, turtles, and iguanas.

4) The Jamaica jazz and blues festival in Montego Bay
I love this yearly festival because of its delightful offering and high quality.This festival showcases a range of genres including country, jazz, reggae and R&B. Past artists have included John Legend, Shaggy, James Ingram, Air Supply, Al Green, KEM, Morgan Heritage, Tami Chynn, Richie Stephens and Bo Diddley.
