The Last Self-Help Book You'll Ever Need: As one reader said "Beyond the bromides of self-help into the pleasure of real life". Self-awareness is definitely essential (in my opinion!) for spiritual growth, but I found that I got to a point where I needed to stop analyzing ... and begin living. (For me, the book "Ask and It Is Given" was instrumental in this transformation).

Be Happy with the Unexpected in Life!

My daughter and I drove two hours to Barstow, Nevada (the middle of nowhere) to pick up our pug/fox terrier mix puppy from a shelter. We looked long and hard online to find a small dog that was destined to be only 20 lbs full grown. But, we watched with dismay as she grew larger and larger and larger. We came inches away from giving her back when we discovered she wasn't what we'd been sold. Today, she weighs in at 80 lbs!!

What a lesson she turned out to be. The unexpected that comes with something you thought you really didn't want. Now I can't imagine not having her. She's sweet and loving. She is my running companion (and an inspiration on the days I don't really feel like running!). A gift from the universe? hmmmm... maybe .... afterall, as we drove home with the 3 lbs 8 week old pup, we named her Karma.
