Great site. I love Led Zeppelin.

Maybe i am too young for this, but I think you choose right bands. I would put Stones on the top...
  • bensen32 Jul 10, 2011 @ 1:07 am | delete
It's hard to pick the top 3 but your really cant argue with these. being a huge fan of Zeppelin #1 is my choice too, the who and stones and aerosmtih who takes 2nd? damn good question. nice lens.

I am such a fan of the 70's that I don't believe I could rank them in any order, just a long list of favs!!! Good start though!

I just have to say it....THIS ROCKS....and, right on baby!
  • MT dingaling Jun 27, 2011 @ 1:02 pm | delete
Stones deserve to be in the top 3, but what about The Eagles? Aerosmith??
  • DinaDLG Jun 1, 2011 @ 5:50 pm | delete
I appreciate the Rolling Stones more now than I did back then, but I never have liked The Who. Led Zeppelin of course rocks on!
  • Waxing-Lyrical Mar 17, 2011 @ 1:02 pm | delete
How can I argue against three of the top British bands? Great decade for music!
  • john dillinger Aug 3, 2010 @ 11:52 pm | delete
stones need to be before the who, cuz ther just that good.
  • LotusPetalYoga Jun 21, 2010 @ 5:08 pm | delete
I'd have to agree with your choices though I really am not a fan of any of the groups! I did see The Who in concert when I was 13, (in the 80's not 70's) that was an interesting first concert experience!
  • plowboytom101 Mar 21, 2010 @ 2:02 pm | delete
    deep purple was the best
  • LeanneChesser Feb 11, 2010 @ 6:49 pm | delete
This is definitely one of the best decades of music and these are three of the best bands. Gotta love that Led Zeppelin pic!
  • prosperity66 Feb 5, 2010 @ 12:48 pm | delete
You didn't choose the worst bands nor the less attractive men (except Jagger that I've never found attractive at all although I love the Rolling Stones).
5 stars of course! Keep such lenses coming, please!
    Dom.

They definitely made somewhere in the top ten in my book.
  • rms Feb 3, 2010 @ 9:59 am | delete
I agree with your choices 100% Nice work!
  • WindyWinters Feb 2, 2010 @ 5:31 pm | delete
Definitely, Agree. Hubby and I have seen them all in concert. "The Who" is our favorite. :)
  • kimmanleyort Feb 1, 2010 @ 11:15 am | delete
I like the way you picked only 3 and think you got them right, in my opinion. Great fodder for discussion, though. I'm sure some will disagree and that's okay. There was so much great music in the 70's.

I think, Wow, this is a totally rockin' lens! Angel Blessed and added to my Squid Angel Mouse Tracks lens.
  • Jewelsofawe Jan 31, 2010 @ 1:43 pm | delete
I loved this music for a lot of years it was mainly what I listened to. Great lens! Blessed by an angel!
  • ElleDeeEsse Jan 30, 2010 @ 3:29 pm | delete
This is a great lens and yep! I agree with you 100% although I think I would have worked deep Purple into the list somehow.... I have lensrolled this to my two aussie seventies music lenses - Radio Birdman and Reg Mombassa 5*
  • GroovyFinds Jan 30, 2010 @ 3:22 pm | delete
    Great choices...love all 3!
  • OhMe Jan 30, 2010 @ 10:46 am | delete
I remember going to a Rolling Stones Concert in the 70's and one of my students was sitting behind me. He couldn't believe his teacher was actually at a Rolling Stones Concert but really I wasn't too much older than he was. You've picked 3 good ones for the Top 3 Rock Bands of the 70s.
  • Ramkitten Jan 30, 2010 @ 10:20 am | delete
Good picks! I can think of others, but I'm not exactly sure if they're more early 80's than 70's. Were the Scorpions around in the 70's? I was a big fan of theirs "back in the day," but since I wasn't really into rock music until I was a teen in the 80's, I'm not sure when some of these bands popped up.

What a throwback to my childhood. I was born in 70 and my earliest music memories are my parents playing all of these songs. My hubby loves the Who and Led Zeppelin. We bought him an MP3 player and he goes to his workshop and "rocks out" :-).
