It's a gas and... Oh! That Helium! Well why didn't you say so?!
Helium is a website that you can write articles for and submit them to in return for a little cash.
Helium is never going to make you a millionaire but by knowing the best places to go on there and knowing how to write a quality article it could make you a nice bit of side cash or, if combined with other projects, a full time income!

How I Found Helium...
Well There Was This Massive Canister And...
I found Helium through lensmaster Rich Leigh. I was advised to take a look and I immediately signed up. It's a great website, with a very welcoming (and helpful) forum and plenty of opportunity to make some cash... like Squidoo really!
Which is why I have made this lens. I feel Squidoo and Helium complement each other very well and I look forward to a bright future with both (better put my sunglasses on).

The Marketplace
Roll Up, Roll Up...Fresh Fruit And Veg Here...!
OK. So it's not that type of Marketplace...The Marketplace is a great way of building a profile and becoming an established writer on Helium.
You can earn anything between $16 and $240 for an article written to specific publishers' guidelines. The publisher states what they are looking for (the topic, any necessary keywords, word count and the style of which it is to be written in) and you have to follow those guidelines.
A price is already set before you write the article, so you know what you are working for but the risk with the Marketplace is that your article may not be purchased.

The channel contests are contests where you write a series of articles under a specific topic and receive points (or get points deducted) due to the quality of your work.
The top 6 writers at the end of the week win cash prizes. They're as follows:
1st = $75
2nd = $25
3rd = $10
4th = $5
5th = $5
6th = $5
Each channel contest runs for a week (Thursday to Wednesday) and the results are announced when the articles have been sufficiently rated. This is usually by Friday.
